Vast Tundra And Snow Covered Mountains In Denali National Park And Preserve Alaska

Denali National Park and Preserve is the greatest of Adventures. Adventure is it's name. When you come to the park, you can choose to drive through about 15 miles of Tundra, or park and simply take a narrated bus at the entrance to the park. The park is around 6 million acres where all the wild animals run free and wild, as has always been the case.

There is a deep human association in the park, where subsistence trapping and hunting are still done by the locals who live off the land, just as they have always done. Many people come to forge and gather during the correct seasons, just as their ancestors have done before them.

There are several trail heads at the beginning of the park, or if you prefer, hiking off trail is allowed. Hiking in the wilderness is exciting and many like to hike up the steeper areas for a better view. Others hikers like to hike near a river and keep watch for the many wild animals that come to the river each day. You can take a shuttle further into the park and then get off when you see somewhere you want to explore. When you come back to the road you can flag a different shuttle bus for the return trip to the entrance.

Rest assured you will see lots of high tundra with a beauty that is unique and amazing. and of course you can look up and see snow covered mountains. What beauty to behold.  Mt. Denali is the tallest mountain in North America. The tallest peak is over 20,300 feet high and is she beautiful. Experienced climbers come from the world over to climb her slopes to the top.

No matter what you want to experience, there is an adventure waiting in Denali National Park and Preserve.  Like most places in Alaska, the best time to come is mid-May to mid-September. Those who choose to discover Alaska during the other months require special clothing and gear for winter survival. Winters in Alaska are no joke, as temperatures plunge below the minus 50's mark often in the interior of the state. If you are looking to explore Alaska, then Denali National Park and Preserve is a perfect adventure.
