Life on the Inside Passage In Ketchikan, Alaska

Ketchikan is heavenly influenced by the Alaskan Natives that have called it home for centuries. Take a walk through town and admire all the different Native American Totem Poles throughout the town. Each tells a story and has it's own unique meaning.

Not far from the town is the amazing wilderness of Misty Fiords. This is a National Monument, a glacier-hewn  frozen Alaskan Wilderness, complete with magnificent snow capped mountains and wonderful spring and summer waterfalls.  This is also home to the salmon, who return here to spawn in the crystal clear streams where they also becane life.

Ketchikan is also home to a vast rich wildlife of all kinds. With the huge salmon in the local waters, it is not unusual to see the bears fishing in the rivers and streams. Wolves freely roam the forests and the amazing bald eagles fly overhead. Their wing span is amazing. The moose live in the forests and mountains, as well as smaller animals like the winter fox. Beauty is everywhere in Ketchikan.

If you are looking for quiet adventure with raving natural beauty, then you will enjoy Ketchikan. Come on up and enjoy the natural beauty and all who call this wilderness sea village home. Be sure to grab your passport, as Canada is only a short boat, plane, or train ride away. Pack you bag and head on out. It is time to go "North to Alaska."

I'm excited to visit Alaska first time soon in about 2 weeks. I'll be staying with my friend in Wasilla, and she's part of the Yupik tribe.
