In 1980 the Maltese Islands were chosen to shoot the movie Popeye The Sailor. The protagonist playing Popeye was a young and unknown actor: Robin Williams. The movie wasn't very succesfull, but Williams' carreer went to another level after that.
All the Film Set was preserved and nowadays it is a kind of a small amusement park. The visitor can walk in the wooden village of the set, take pictures, watch some performances of artists playing Popeye, Brutus and Olive and have some fun in the Anchor Bay's water playground.
