Weekend Bohol Trip Pt. 2: Market in the Middle of the Sea | Travel blog

in travel •  7 years ago

Our second day in Bohol was a unique experience. We went island hopping, first to Balicasag Island but there was a new guideline that tourist had to get a guide and pay 250 Pesos ($5) to be able to go snorkel or free dive. We knew this was too steep of a price so we just swam by the shore for a bit. We then headed off to a place called Virgin Island.

Now this place was quite unique. They had a market in the middle of the sea. The place is a sandbar and during high tide the sand is submerged and all you see are the stalls jutting out of the sea.

They were selling coconut, bananaque (fried banana skewers) and various seafood. There were a lot of sea urchin, mullosks and fish. The main target market there were mainland Chinese tourists and some of the food were ridiculously expensive but the bananaque and coconut were just slightly expensive.

Definitely one of the more unique places I've visited here in the Philippines. If you're planning to visit Bohol, book yourself a trip to this one of a kind market.

Hey Bohol! My father-in-law grew up there and I had a chance to visit just this last June. A really beautiful place! I didn't read Pt. 1 of your weekend Bohol trip (yet), so sorry if you already did this. But, if not, try and check out the Chocolate Hills and Tarsiers (super tiny monkeys). Both are very cool. I forget the price in PHP for admission, but the experience was really cool. Enjoy your time there!

Yep we went to Chocolate Hills and the Tarsier place. It's in part 1 :)

Great Travel blog man! I hope i could go there

You should! Bohol is packed with awesome places to visit.

Aw, man. This just reminded me how unfortunate my travel to Cebu last year was. We were supposed to go to Bohol but cancelled it due to the bad weather. T_T
But thank you for sharing this unique market, will definitely go there when I get to travel to Bohol soon. It looks fun and the water is so clear! ^^ I bet you guys enjoyed it a lot. Jelly here~ ><'

That sucks. Weather wasn't really great too, it was overcast and raining all day but still fun though. Hope you can visit there soon.

I know right, it's good that the bad weather didn't stop you guys from enjoying your trip. And yes, I will. ^^
