Searching for hotels is a bit rough specially if you have standards that you want to follow, expectation vs reality.

Divine Castle Travelers Inn

Divine Castle Travelers Inn is a conveniently and easy access to the Coron town must-see destinations. While lodging at this beautiful property we enjoyed the friendly staffs who treat us very well. This hotel has a Wi-Fi in all rooms and public areas with 24-hour front desk. It was walking distance to the center of Coron Town, the pier and many restaurants.

We booked this hotel ahead of time and picked Bay View Room which we enjoyed having a small balcony that shows ocean view. We paid around $32/night with AC and breakfast. The room with balcony was really cool because we could watch the sunset from our room. The room has basic amenities.

This hotel is just a short walk to the main road using the steps down to Coffee Kong. They had simple breakfast and was served on the roof terrace which has a lovely view of Coron Town proper and ocean. Breakfast options are basic and must be ordered a night before.

Three good things in this hotel.

  1. Ocean view at the rooftop is great.
  2. Friendly staff and very helpful.
  3. During our stay the Wi-Fi is good compared to other establishments we went to.

Three bad things in this hotel.

  1. Bathroom is always wet because the water drainage for shower was on the other side.
  2. Bathroom is small.
  3. Most of the night we heard some local couple dating and talking on the stairs which makes noisy.

Overall, a great stay, comfortable beds, friendly staff and the location couldn't be any better. I would recommend this and stay again.

Yuyu Family Inn

Yuyu Family Inn has an excellent location at center town of Coron easy access to most restaurants.
I found this hotel in Agoda for 50% discount. We pay around $16/night for double room 1-bed with breakfast for 7 days.

The room is okay, color painted black that makes the room more dark. The room has no TV and no Wi-Fi that makes everything so bored during your stay. The bathroom has no partition that makes everything strange when you used the toilet.

The breakfast serve at the lobby with one slice of ham, sandwich, mango and fried egg. They serve the breakfast the same everyday there's no menu that you can choose. We had this for almost 7 days and we don't have a choice.

They have a roof deck that you can grill some fish or have a picnic. You can hung your wet clothes from your tour. The roof top is on under construction and no light in the evening. We like to stay here for a better mobile data internet since this hotel doesn't have a Wi-Fi.

  1. Best location.
  2. Has mini fridge which most hotels doesn't have for cheapest price.
  3. Has a roof deck that you can hangout for drink, picnic and grill a fish.

Three bad things in this hotel.

  1. No Wi-Fi but Agoda says have.
  2. No Television.
  3. Bathroom has no partition which a bit strange.

Sanho Pension House

Sanho Pension House is a Korean owned hotel located near at public market and port for boat tours. The first time we got here the front desk accommodate as well. We booked twin bed room with two double beds with breakfast. The room is spacious, clean and the location is very convenient but the bed are a bit hard.

I like the most in this hotel is the restaurant, they are open for breakfast but closed for lunch and open again for dinner around 4:00-8:00 PM. The cooked is the Korean owner that makes the dishes are really delicious, I ordered Ramen and Dumplings many times. The shrimp dish and others are good also. The restaurant view is amazing, you can actually watch the sunset from there.

Three good things in this hotel.

  1. The food is excellent probably one of the best places to eat in Coron.
  2. Strong Wi-Fi which is rare in Coron.
  3. Good room for the price.

Three bad things in this hotel.

  1. The beds are a bit hard.
  2. Airport transfer is late.
  3. Outlets are broken.

Scott & Amies Place 2

Scott & Amies are located 10 to 15 minutes drive from Coron town proper. We found this apartment at AirBnb. It was a bit hard to find this place since it is located a bit further away. To get here, from the airport take a van but some van don't come to this place, then they will drop you in front of the hospital then take a tricycle. The fare is 150 pesos.

It's kind of peace and quiet with a fresh air. The room is really spacious which is a big plus. They have 3 fan rooms and we choose the small one for 500 pesos per night others are between 700 pesos but for the latest price visit the Scott & Amies Place 2 at airbnb.com.

They have a sofa that you can sit to relax and watch TV. They have a videoke machine for free that you can use if you like to sing. They have a free breakfast that you can actually request what kind of breakfast you like. A common kitchen and refrigerator is provided for all guests.

The kitchen is very spacious that you can use if you like to cook. What we did is to buy fish or anything we want to cook since its hard for us to go to the town to eat. You can rent a motorbike that you can use for transportation or just take a ride to Kuya Pedic (Amies brother) and he will take you to your destination. For the fare your the one can decide since Kuya is shy to ask.

One thing that I like to stay in a room is with kitchenette. I do enjoyed cooking specially if my sister works with me. We did grilling at the top of the house its on under construction but it was nice and fresh air.

I cooked crepes for the first time. Here's the video.

The owners Auntie Amie is so kind and generous every time she cooks something and gave us also for free. She cooked yummy spaghetti and Scott cooked a lot of pizza for everyone.

We did a lot of things to make the house full of happiness like dancing crazy that we usually do with my sister.
Here is the funny video;

They have darts that you can play which I like, I haven't notice for a couple days that I wish I'd play more.
Here is the video;

We really enjoyed our stay, the hospitality they gave to us, the friendship and her niece (helper) are so nice. We went to Hard Rock disco bar with Auntie Amie and Scott, 15 minutes away from the apartment. They tour us there before we check out for the next day.
In our flight day they arrange our transportation going to airport that makes everything easy for us.

nice cities in Philippines

thanks..

Great post, some of those hostels looked a bit shady though. Thought you would get some pretty good for €20-30 in the Philippines. At least in most South American countries you can get it at least.

yes Coron Palawan is improving now a days.. but you can have a very good room in Manila, Cebu and in some cities in Philippines..

Its on my list to make it back to Coron maybe on my next trip. Last time I stayed at the dive centre that can see on the water in your first image. Can't remember the exact name but it was nice and price was fairly affordable then.
