Travel stories #1: North Korea (DPRK) - Introduction and teaser! (#1 NK)

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hi guys, and welcome to the first post of my travel diary! This is the first post in a series about the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea), better known as North Korea in the Western World!

- Have you ever wondered what it is like to travel or live in North Korea, the most isolated country in the world?
- Do you want to read about first-hand experiences of someone that has been inside the country for some time and has lectured about the country in universities?
- Would you like to see images of North Korea - from the country side to city life, from the theaters and bars to playgrounds and central BBQ places (yes they have!)?
- Do you want to get the opportunity to engage in a Q&A and ask any question you can think of about North Korea?

Then look no further! Subscribe to my blog and follow the stories. In the coming period I will deep-dive in this fascinating country and show you what it is really about, behind the curtains, in full glory.

Teaser of what is to come:
I have been present at Kim Il Sung's (founder of DPRK) 100th birthday. This is one of the photos I have made during the grand spectacle called the Arirang Mass Games, a gigantic gymnastics and artistic Performance in the biggest stadium in the world. One of my next posts will elaborate on how to get there, what it is about, and what you can see!

Interesting and great pictures.

I will follow you. This topic is of interest to me.

Thank you @ticopurelife, stay tuned! :)

I'm waiting for your posts! Did you go with Young Pioneer? I know they have the cheapest tours there!

No, I have been able to organize a private and extended tour with a small group of students. Therefore, we have been able to see more than what a normal tour could offer. Young Pioneer is an excellent choice though - highly recommended! I will devote a post in the future which dives into what is the best way to get there, and perhaps I can bring some of you in contact with my travel agent :)

I am surely following you after this, as I am really curious to know how on Earth you managed to do a private tour. If you're into travelling, as it seems to be, I posted an article about finding the cheapest flights to anywhere https://steemit.com/travel/@borderedge/how-to-find-the-cheapest-flights-from-anywhere

Thanks mate, I will follow your account and check out the article later!

nice one!! :)

North Korea is such an undervalued country, it's such a shame nobody ever visits and people think it's unsafe. It's not. It's just restricted a little.
I'd love to go sometime, especially into the countryside if possible.

Yeah this topic is really interesting. I would really like to hear more from you.

great post ! Sounds very interesting , upped and followed !!👍👍👍

I would like to read more and specially see more pictures. Thanks for sharing
