So far my journey has beenVery eye-opening. Lots of things have come up for me that have pushed my personal growth.
One such topic is that of American pride. The people here are sold American culture through the television and other media. This is an outlet that I have avoided for over a decade now. It paints a sunny picture Of America as the best country in the world. Yet for so much of my life I have rebuild against this no one. How can I be proud of a nation that was built upon genocide? I suppose South Africa is also built on genocide and had a much more recent occurrence. Yet I still maintain that under the shiny wrapping paper America Is not all that it promises.... more revelations coming soon
