Shopping in Takeshita Street was fun, yum, crazy and a wallet thinner. Never thought that there are some wildlings in Japan. Not everyone is as square as most people portray them to be.

Went home with heavy bags in tow and a lighter wallet. On the way home, conversation hit Tokyo tower. How we never done it in our last visit. We had plenty of time at night so decided to see what it's like looking down from 634 meters high.

The travel was straightforward, ha! When is it ever. But, I am getting the hang of this railway system.

Got home, had a quick meal and slept a little. Then navigated our way to Skytree in Oshiage. Not knowing if the train is going in the right direction or if it's going to stop in your destination can be stressful.

Hopped on the train which I wasn't sure about. I was kind of worried that it's not going the right way. I asked one passenger, a mid 20's looking guy in a suit if the train is bound for Aoto.

He was too busy playing games and took me 3 tries saying excuse me, only to get a head shake. Did not even look at me. Gamers aye.

Saw a cute girl and asked her instead. She smiled and nods, 'hai'.

After an hour and a bit, we reached our destination.

The first couple of floors of the tower had food shops, anime, games and fasion. As you go up there are more cafes and restaurants.

If you just wanted a photo of the skytree tower, you can take a photo at the base.

I was pretty excited going up the elevator. Just thinking of the excellent photos of the whole city had me smiling.

Reached our destination only to be disappointed. It was hazy, there was this cloudy smog and it hanged around the entire night.

This is at 9 PM and there aren't much cars on the road. In Sydney, there will be trails of lights from end to end.

Disappointed, we went down a floor below the observation deck for souvenirs. Lucky we did because we saw a clear glass floor. Giving visitors a nerve wracking experience.

Looking down, you can see the metal rails that holds this tower up and keep it stable. Every now and then, you can also feel like you are moving. 'Earthquake' comes to mind.

That made it all worthwhile, happy again. Headed home at about 10 and most shops are closed.

What I could not believe though was at 10.30 in the evening, the trains are still packed. Made me think what time does peak hour in Tokyo finish. I am guessing after midnight.

Bye guys. See you on the next one.

Tip:

  1. Look up before deciding on going to any tower in Japan. If it's not clear, postpone it for a better, clearer day.
  2. Expect packed trains in Tokyo from 5 PM to midnight.

Glad I could do this with you - high towers and glass floors are definitely not my thing!

There was a lady that was so scared, she asked her partner to hold her hand as she walked on the glass floor.
