So next stop on the eurotripping adventure - Rome!

I’ll be honest, Rome probably was my least favourite stop in Italy. It was incredible to visit the Colloseum, Trevi fountain and both see and hear the history of the city in its ruins and buildings. Unfortunately though this history is now used for commercial gain so it loses its wow factor. I really struggled with this, you’d walk through a set of ruins, where clearly something major has happened and there’s an advertisement for the lastest iPhone on the side of a half knocked down building.

My favourite part of Rome was the Trevi Fountain. It was packed but such a magical place. The legend goes that if you throw one coin into the fountain you’ll return to Rome, two you’ll meet a handsome man and three coins promises you’ll get married. Well I’m still waiting for my handsome man to turn up but who knows what or who’s around the corner!!

The last place we visited was the Vatican. This really got to me. I’ve spent a large chunk of my childhood and adolescence being told that the Roman Catholic Church was all about giving to the poor and needy. I was raised in a Catholic household with my parents and grandparents being very religious. My visit to the Vatican was definitely the start of me questioning and, accordingly, changing these beliefs. I won’t say much more but it definitely was a shock and a bit of a wake up call.

really amazing photo's, love the Rome architecture

Yes, it's getting really commercial, like all popular tourist attractions, but still soo beautiful. Definitely worth a visit. And your photos are cool :)
