Bus fixed and we are going to Alaska! Stampede Trail!

Story continues

After flatbed picked up our Van we were transported to Jackson in Wyoming to workshop in order to fix the problems.

We were staying with our tents pitched on the parking lot of the workshop. Luckily they had WIFI and water, so we could use that time working and chilling as well.

Because fixing was taking 3 days, mostly because of waiting time for parts we've decided to use this time efficiently.
Field office is fully operational ;-)

Finally when the Van was fixed we could move towards Alaska!

After 3 days of constant driving and almost 3000km of roads through forests, mountains and beautiful landscapes we finally we've arrived to Alaska!

First we went to Seward to go for a boat tour to look for whales.

And we were really lucky as we saw a dozen of whales and orcas, and sea lions, and seals! :-)

This time we made it on time to the ferry (the day before we missed it by 5 minutes) for 5 hours cruise to find whales . :-)

We even got to see the iceberg.

This was incredible and I would recommend it to everyone! :-)

Seward itself was a really pretty port city surrounded by mountains.

Then we went to Stampede Trail. It was our ultimate destination during this trip.

15.jpg

Unfortunately Teklanika river after two attempts was too hard to cross. But all save and sound we've returned to Healy (well, with few scratches and bruises).
On the photo is the original Bus from Into the wild movie.

After the long way from Alaska through Canada we reached Seattle :-D

In the meantime we did the whole Alaska Highway!

17.jpg

On Alaska Highway we have left 'a bit' of tread, so we needed to change tires. Looking for a new set of tires took us almost the whole day. Mission that seemed to be impossible because of mechanics officiousness with tire sizes on the car and ones recommended by manufacturer was completed with success. :-D

Almost 100 km further down we found matching ones. Because it was Sunday, after pick-up all tire workshops were closed.
It forced us to drive forward and after 5 km one of tires blew up.

18.jpg

Right on the curve. But we managed to deal with this problem in under 5 minutes.

19.jpg

Next day we have managed to fit them all on, and hopefully they will last until the end of the trip. :-D

Next we went straight to California. But about that in the next post :)
