Great pictures, one question (maybe it is a dumb one), why do many of the houses have ladders, even on the rooftops?

Hi, there's no dumb question. Please look at the 2nd image, you can see the ladders are used to have access to the storage right under the roof. I can't remember why the ladder was mounted on top of the roof itself (in the image with the 2 little boats), probably just to store the ladder itself somewhere.
