Hello my fellow Steemians
As promised, here is the record of our cycle tour through Italy.
We are so in love with Torbole that we extend our stay another day. We briefly entertain the idea of doing a tour to one of the peaks but when we look at the elevation profile of the navigation app we have to realise that we're not fit enough as it requires expert level.
Instead we just ride over to Garda and explore the surroundings on 'ground level'
The next day we take the boat and 'cheat' as we skip part of the ride as it runs along a busy road. So we conveniently watch the shore move by as we sit in the sun on deck of the ferry until we get off at Saló.
It's around 12:30 when we arrive in Saló and it's very hot.
We follow the app to find the cycle track to Brescia. We ride uphill on a steep road in full sunshine and about half way I feel like fainting. After some time we reach a little old village and are able to ride on the small shady alleys between the houses.
Then the trail turns into a wooded landscape and although it still leads uphill we are able to cool down a little. When I turn around I realise there is a beautiful view over the lake and have to take a photo although it's so steep I will have problems getting back on the bike.
It only lasts another few hundred metres and then we finally have reached the top.
From here on the road will gradually descend towards Brescia.
The closer we get to Brescia the cloudier it gets and it looks like it's going to rain soon.
Also we have to ride the last 20 kilometres beside the big road an past a lot of factories which isn't too nice.
We get a text from our friends that are on their way by car to meet us in Brescia and they tell us they are driving through the worst thunderstorm they have ever seen.
We speed up a bit and sometimes there are a few drops of rain but we actually manage to reach our hotel in Brescia without getting wet.
We are tired, we are sweaty, we have no more clean clothes and there are no more mountains ahead of us to conquer, so we decide this is the end of our cycle trip and we fall into our beds exhausted but filled with memories for a lifetime.
This is an overview of our tour as seen on the Komoot app we used.
