Zolotonosha Krasnogorsk monastery

One of the five oldest Orthodox monasteries in Ukraine. It located in the Cherkasy region, near the town of Zolotonosha. This is the center of Ukraine, the Dnieper river is flowing near these places. Sometimes this is called Krasnogorsk monastery since early on a beautiful hill, which later housed the monastery, in the old rose bushes "wild peach" with a bright rose bushes in the spring.

Originally, the monastery was a male. According to legend, the beginning pustynnozhitelstva in Redridge was laid by some monk, a native of Constantinople (Istanbul), approximately at the end of XVI - the beginning of XVII century. In a vivid dream appeared to him the Virgin Mary, ordered to go to the Russian land. He found the monk hill, dug into her cave and began to pray. Soon it became known about the owner of the land, the pious Cossack Ivan shebet-Slyuzhke. He decided Cossack Red hill, as they called the place turned into a mountain of God - to establish a holy abode here.
