Where's My Holiday?
After all the hectic activity before and during Christmas, the plan was to take off to Gozo on Boxing Day and RELAX.
However, having left home at 5.00 a.m. we arrived at our AirBnB late afternoon expecting to be able to kick back and relax.
No chance!
The place hadn't been cleaned. There were dirty towels lying around and no beds made. But, much worse, the electricity had been turned off and food had been left to rot in the fridge and freezer.
The place stank and there was no way we could stay here.
To be fair, the guy who owns the place has been very apologetic and got a cleaner as soon as he could but we still weren't able to take possession of the flat until 5.45 p.m. the next day.
The people at AirBnB have been very helpful too but it is not the relaxing start I wanted and I'm now having to deal with a dispute to get some of our money back. 😢
I have been putting that off but need to get onto it now as the thought of it kept me awake last night.
Hopefully, the next time I write I will be in a more relaxed frame of mind.

Eheheh. I think I will continue to avoid Airbnb and other similar stuff. There's nothing like a nice clean 4 Star Hotel. 😉

AirBnB has been great for us until this time @trinscowski.
The guy who owns the place is not in the country and is new to it. He didn't have any reviews so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He seems to be a good guy, just totally disorganised and has said he will pay us compensation, so we'll see.
We prefer the freedom of an apartment to a hotel and this one is very luxurious now it's clean! 😁

Yep. We've been very lucky with the weather @slobberchops. We're sleeveless during the day when in the sun and out of any wind, but it gets a bit chilly at night.
It's another stunning day today. I can't wait to get out in it. 😁
The walks are so beautiful here. You never know what you are going to find. Yesterday we stumbled across a place where people used to do their washing in a shelter housing a natural spring. We've seen the most well known one many times as you drive past it on the way to Xlendi. But this one was up a small road and, since it was out of the way, people were using it to wash their cars. 😂
I didn't take a photograph as it felt a bit intrusive but, if I can't the chance, I'll try and walk back and get a picture when it's empty. 😁

It's good you can do some walking. In the summer when we were there it was simply too hot. We didn't go to Gozo but its a sizeable land mass, there should be lots too look at, enjoy your holiday!

Yes. As we were scrambling up the cliff yesterday I was thinking "there's no way I'd be doing this in the summer". I regretted not taking something to tie up my hair had to roll up my trouser legs as it was! 😂
Gozo is well worth a visit. It has a very different feel to it than Malta although there are still a few spots on Malta where you can get away from it all.

Hello gillianpearce, I wish you a nice holiday in Gozo and a Happy New Year! I would not have minded that much, I know how it sometimes looks to me and chaos is done when I cook or do not have much time : D. I would probably have cleaned up and ventilated the room together with him :D.

That's too bad! I can honestly say that I haven't had a bad experience with Airbnb yet and I do so love the apartment vs hotel dealie. Being out of the area is going to be a pain until he gets reliable people and he will never know if they dohim justice!

Yep. It was very disappointing when we got here and for the first couple of days @guchtere but things have picked up a bit now and the owner has said he will give us the compensation we asked for. He hasn't done so yet but I'm hoping I won't have to keep chasing him up for it!
