Goldrooster in Spain#13 Ezcaray and surroundings

To avoid too much heat in the Rioja area we looked for another mountain range and found one. Just southwest of Logroño is a mountainrange with a lovely small village called Ezcaray.

We were surprised to see mountains that high in the middle of Rioja and today during a 4 hour hike we even saw some last snow high up the mountains. Height here was 1450 meters.

We are staying a little outside of Ezcaray in a Ferreria converted into a hotel. A ferreria is a blacksmith so a building with a water hammered drill for making iron tools etc. . The restaurant serves steaks of 735 gramm on coal fire which in our view is enough for 7-8 persons. So we took the fish!

The hike we did is called the 7 bridge track and took us high in the hills. We ended in a little village close to where we started and had to talk to the locals. They had some preguntas (questions) for us and once they discovered I speak spanish they talked and talked but I understood only half and had to translate for my wife as well.
