I tend to enjoy odd things and when i hear that a place has a small collection of things that were made by or are about serial killers I know for sure that I want to see them. There was a small collection of items on display in Wilmington, North Carolina while i just happened to be visiting and well, i was not going to pass them up.

my presentation is going to be small because they were saying that taking photos is forbidden and I really can't understand why anyone would ever have that rule unless they have something to hide or are doing something illegal. I took photos anyway but was quickly reprimanded and told i would be asked to leave. So, sorry that I can't show you more.

took this one after i was told not to, hence the blur
This one is a painting made by and signed by John Wayne Gacy and that is also his blood-red hand print in the middle. He was known as the "Killer Clown" because of his penchant for dressing up as "Pogo the Clown" and participating in charity events. Some have suggested that he used these events to find his next victims. No one will ever know if that is true. He was executed in 1994.

This is a Christmas card from none other than Charles Manson. What better way to ring in the Holiday spirit than by having one of the most famous killers of all time send you a card? I have no idea how this was made to happen but there is signed certifications that prove the documents are real. That's a pretty crazy thing to have in your collection.
At this point i was being watched like a hawk and even though I don't understand why they don't want anyone to take pictures at an event that was free to get into, i wasn't going to rock the boat. Other items were mostly correspondence between various criminals and lawyers but my favorite was the 1969 Z340 Cipher from the Zodiac Killer, which to this day has not been solved.

security was standing right next to me at this point, so i pulled this from the internet source
Anyway, that is a tiny part of the overall exibit. Most of it was actually quite boring and just letters between lawyers and death row inmates, but some of it, particularly the Zodiac stuff (he was never caught) was still a rather nicely interesting part of history, even though it was of terrible human beings.
I also find stuff like this quite fascinating! I am very intrigued by their minds mostly. As far as the taking of pics is concerned... I know that in our local museums etc. you are not allowed to take pics because of the effect that the flash on the camera has on the artifacts... so perhaps that was one of the reasons...

You have taken a risk that you are thankful for @gooddream. I like the collections, but this one of assassins I had never imagined it. Really an outstanding collection. Thank you for your photographs. I'm glad they didn't take you out and you didn't have a bad time. A hug.
