A FIERCE ALBERTA SUNSET

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

I took this image while on my first trip to Alberta, visiting my sister in Airdrie. She and her husband are lucky enough to have this view most nights from their home. Airdrie began as a 'stopping off' point, especially with the introduction of the railroad in the late 1890's. Interestingly, it is actually the highest elevated city in Canada, and wow did I ever feel it! After about the second day, I basically got altitude sickness, which was made worse because of how dry it is there. Thankfully symptoms got better eventually, and I also got the chance to roam around Calgary's downtown core.

Downtown Calgary isn't exactly known for it's over the top parties, but there are plenty of trendy restaurants, great shopping, some wonderful shows, and a genuinely unique experience (especially during the Calgary Stamped)!

I would definitely recommend visiting Airdrie, Calgary or just anywhere in beautiful Alberta. It's great for photography lovers too!

Hello, actuall6 the air was super dry, perhaps a bit more moist in the am... I didn't really see any fires, but it was quite cold when I went. Thanks for the comment.
