On Top Of The Wallberg Mountain

in travel •  6 years ago

You have seen 2 previous posts from the German Alps with a lot of photos but these photos are all captured between the mountains. This time I'm going up the Wallberg mountain in southern Germany. Of course, this was also my plan, others had never come up with this idea. When we were there the day before, I thought that I really want to get up the mountain there because there is a cable car that takes us almost to the top. Sadly, this closes at 5 pm and there was no time for us to go anymore that evening.

The next, 2 of us drove back to the Tegernsee town from the Munich to get up this mountain now. Cable car costs 20 EUR to get up and back down. Drive up took around 10 minutes, pretty fast actually I could say when considered that the mountain is 1700 meters high. Already during the drive up, some amazing views appeared.

Cable car pretty much takes you straight to the restaurant on the mountain. There is also a small church there. For some reason, I don't have a photo of this church. I know I post processed one but I can't find it now.

Since this wasn't the highest point of the mountain we had to start hiking towards there. It wasn't far but the terrain up there was a little rough at times, I think it took us another 30 minutes to reach the top of the mountain. To be more exact, the highest point of the mountain was 1722 meters high.

I really like the photo below. This shows you many different layers of mountains in terms of distance.

Next two photos show you the rough terrain we had to hike up to. It wasn't that hard but I certainly don't recommend to take this hike if you are not up to this.

View down to the lake and the towns was really special. This lake was huge when sailing on it but it looks much smaller when seen from this high. The weather up there was clear and beautiful so no low clouds were interfering with our view. It was a little bit chillier there than at the ground level but we are talking about maybe only a couple of degrees difference.

I have never been to the Alps before and I certainly want to go to the Austrian mountains sometime in the future.

Whoa, some of these photos (the more foresty ones) just shout "COME LIVE IN ME" to me. Ahhh, imagine a cozy cabin in the middle of a forest like that... and a small-small river flowing very close. 😍

Oh yes sometimes imagineing isolated life in some forest seems quite an appealing idea but in the other hand it would be too much work for me :D. This forest on the photo looks looks nice yep!

was it cold up there?
How long in advance do you plan for these trips?

Hey hey, there was only a couple of degrees difference with ground level. It wasnt cold there at the time. I didnt plan this trip ahead at all. It was all kinda unexpected. 4 days earlier I didnt know im going to Germany :D

haha! oh that must be a fun way to live greddyforce! To be able to just take off like that and a moments notice! lol. very good.

@greddyforce Wonderful forest village of the mountains. It is a blessing to be able to visit it and enjoy its enchanting view and landscapes. Being quiet in the must be very cozy. You managed to capture in your take all the details. Excellent photos. At the top of the mountain the view of the lake is spectacular. I love cows eating and lying very relaxed and fully happy with a pleasant climate. Thank you for allowing us through your publication and your wonderful photos to get to know this beautiful place. A big greeting.

Im glad you like the photos. Air in the Alps was so pure and it was a joy to breathe this. No need to mention the sceneries, hope to go back to the alps sometime.

Congratulations on being curied!! Amazing photos - well deserved! :)

Glad you think so!

These views are just stunning and magical. Hiking up that mountain will be really fun and thrilling adventure. The plants there are so green and vibrant, it must have been refreshing being surrounded by such natural and spectacular views.

Really, i am speechless. This is so beautiful, you managed to capture the beauty and also the sense of peace. I can imagine sitting right there with the sun in my face looking down at that so beautiful view with the sound of the cows mooing in the background. Nature is beautiful.
Excellent photography skills. I am definitely keeping all these pictures...that is if you don't mind. Good job here @greddyforce.

Thank you! You can keep em, no problem! Cows had the bells on their necks. There was this cow bell sound all over the place :D

Thanks.

Thanks for sharing this lovely travel memoire.

In the 8th picture from the end it looks like a very difficult place to hike. Did you have any mountaineering equipment with you?

No I didnt. This route does not require any equipment.
Although this wasnt easy as well, if you dont want to hike or you have health issues, dont go there.

Whoah! Those views are really amazing and breathtaking. It looks like you really had a great adventure.

Those mountain cows, are they wild? I mean nobody owns them and just wandering out there? Did you camp on top of the mountain?

Yes its amazing there!Nah they are not wild, some farmer owns them. It was a one day hike up to this mountain so no I didnt camp there.

The farmers must have a very wide property to have the cows roam in the mountain like that. Or, do they just let loose of the cows to the mountains?

Did you also have to take the cable car in descending? Or is there an easy way going back?

I dont know exactly about the prpperty of theirs but it looked like they had fences around them.Yes we tooknthe cable car down as well. This mountain is too steep to walk down :D

I see. I thought it is possible to hike because it looks so inviting with its calmness and refreshing view. :)

Wow, some excellent photos! You can see that it was an adventure worth remembering for a long time, and what a desire to go and do some shots myself over there! great, I emcanta tour the world in post like this that you offer today, thank you very much for that!

Yes it was awesome, glad you like!

What a beautiful spot and you have excellent photos of it. I too like the mountains off in the distance. But I like your black and white with the paraglider the best. That has wonderful contrast and composition. And the last shot with the yellowish grass is spectacular.

I would certainly be turning an ankle if I tried to do your hike. Those rocks look very unforgiving.

Thank you. I didnt find a suitable color composition for this paraglider photo so the enly choice was to make it black and white :D

Terrain was rough yeah. If you fall and start rolling downwards...well thats perry much certain death. Gotta be careful there.

There is also a small church there. For some reason, I don't have a photo of this church.

I wanna see the church Franz. Go back there and take a photo of the small church!
The churrrrrrch!!!!
I wanna see iiiiiit!!!

Sorry for the shouts Franz lol!
I really want to see the church...

Sorry, I'm back in Estonia already :D

BUT in a 10th photo, you can see this church in the upper right corner if you look closely.

Oh I see the church!
Thank you very so much Franz!
Do you know what religion the church represents?

I am not 100% sure but I believe it represents christianity.

Oh I see.
Got to go there to know more. I guess mostly churches are built by missionaries especially those remote places in a far far away from inhabitants. Mostly, monasteries are built on those places because silence is crucial on their faith.

Anyways, thanks for spending your precious time talking to me Franz. I appreciate it very much!

By the way where is your next trip?

No problem at all! Right now I dont know. I have traveled so much this year that im kinda broke right now. Only future will tell when and where im going :D

Okay. Thanks for the fast response. I hope you can fix the broke. Life will go on in bad times and good times.
I wish you all the best in life and with your love ones!
Its kinda cold in here. :)

Oh, another wonderful experience that someone shows us around here. I have to say that I find the blue of the sky incredible, poetic and sublime, and as in some parts it is illustrated in the mountains. Brutal!

Amazing terrain and it just begs to be hiked. Heck, I wouldn't mind getting lost in those lands for a while if it meant more time communing with Mother Nature. I just don't get to see those sightings where I'm from and that place is magic. When you mentioned the word Alps, I immediately thought of those popular photos readily present on Google search engines, these photos are just as competitive as the ones frequently advertised about the place :D

Thank you! If I had enough food and shelter I can use I wouldnt mond getting lost there either :D

I come across a lot of nature/travel blogs on steemit, especially through following curie but i can never get sick of seeing the beauty of the outdoors. There is just something in the photos that makes me want to grab a bag and head out to the wilderness.

Yea, pretty often im having the same thought when looking at somenature pics.
