U. K. trip (1) - The Roman Baths /

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

March this year, I went to London on a business trip. That was my first time in London so I took the opportunity to travel around a little bit. According to my colleagues, I should visit Stonehenge, a must see in U.K. Therefore, I scheduled a day trip to Stonehenge. While planning the trip, I realized there is another tourist attraction located around there "The Roman Baths".

The Roman Baths locates at the city of "Bath", which is where you can get on the tour bus to Stonehenge provided by most of the local tour companies.

I traveled from where I stayed, Gatwick airport, to Bath by train, transit at Reading. If you're a English soccer fan, you may know there is a soccer team name Reading. Total traffic time is about 3 hours, and here you are, the "Bath Spa" station.

It took me about 10 mins walk from the train station to Roman Baths. A small town with no much to see. Luckily, I bumpped into a wedding held at the local chunch.

When I arrived the Roman Baths, I realized it closed at 6pm, which by that time, I should be just returned from Stonehenge, so I decided to rush into Roman Bath and made the best use of the 1 hour time before my tour bus to Stonehenge left.

The Roman Baths museum is built on top of the original Roman Baths ruins, so you got to see the original construction built by Romans over one thousand years ago as well as the new technology used to study and introduce it.

The longer you stayed in the museum and looked at the public bath ruins, the more you realized how amazing and advanced are the Romans who built this structure such long time ago.

The one hour ran out pretty fast, it's about time for me to rush to my tour bus to Stonehenge, I took a few photos on my way to the bus stop, enjoy!

There is another Stonehenge post around so I may not create my own unless there are good amount of requests from you.

Great photos you have.

uk is amazing i think

Is the water from a Spring? Too bad they don't restore this so people can use it. Very beautiful buildings, though :)

Not quite sure if nowadays the water is still from a Spring or not. But I remembered the water was warm, so it may still come from Spring

I saw someone putting their hand in it :) Maybe it is good for your health.

Nice views ...... I hope to visit there one day
