오늘 이야기는 후쿠기 가로수길에 대한 내용이예요. 전문은 아트래블 7월호에서 만나볼 수 있어요.

10 a.m. We woke up late in the morning because we engaged in animated conversation until 4 a.m. My friend made a cup of coffee and I got out of a guest house with it and see the ocean. Let's run Okinawa time today.

오전 10시. 새벽 4시까지 이어진 이야기꽃에 늦잠을 자버린 아침이다. 친구가 내린 커피 한 잔을 받아 들고일어나 멍하니 게스트하우스 앞 바다를 바라본다. 자, 오늘은 오키나와의 시간을 달려볼까.

We drived a car about 30 minutes to get Biseno-Hukugi tree lined street. The street is made to stop ocean wind which is blow to a town. The Hukugi trees are strong and reefs are thick. Thus, it is good for stop ocean wind but glowth speed is slow. It means that a lot of effort of people who live here put to make the street. Average age of trees are 300 years old. It is a lot of time.

우리가 차로 30분을 가서 도착한 곳은 비세노 후쿠기 가로수길(備瀬のフクギ並木通り). 비세마을에서 방풍림으로 심은 후쿠기 나무가 잘 자라 울창한 가로수길을 만들어 내고 있는 곳이다. 후쿠기 나무는 단단하고 잎이 두꺼워서 방풍림으로 제격이지만 성장 속도가 유난히 느리다. 이 정도의 가로수길을 만들기 위해서는 비세마을 주민들의 인내와 정성이 적정량의 햇살과 빗물만큼이나 들어갔을 것이다. 평균 300년의 나이를 자랑하는 후쿠기 나무 사이, 어마어마어마한 시간이 가득 쌓여있다.

There are houses which have a low fence between the street. It only takes about a hour to see this town and if you ride a bicycle, it takes 30 minutes. It is very small town. The middle of the twon, you can meet Sisa which is a mascot of Okinawa in the souvenir store. Just stop my step, I sent a smile to Sisa. One house, there are 2 children who sit on the floor with curous eyes. I did't want to interupt them, so I gave them a nod. Then finally I found a Bisejaki ocean which is hidden by the street for 300 years. There is a cafe named by Ultra Blue. I ordered a cup of coffee and watch the ocean. That was peaceful time.

We just stop to chat and feel the slow time.

비세노 후쿠기 가로수길은 담이 낮은 일반 가정집을 양옆에 두고 울창한 갈림길을 만들어 낸다. 한 바퀴 다 돌면 1시간 반 정도 걸리고 자전거로 돌면 30분이 걸리는 작은 마을. 가로수길 중간에는 오키나와 수호신 시샤 모형의 장식품을 판매하는 기념품 가게도 만날 수 있다. 잠깐 발걸음을 멈추고 행복하기 그지없는 시샤의 미소를 바라본다. 어느 집에 어린이 둘이 마루에 앉아 가만히 지나가는 관광객들을 호기심 어린 눈으로 쳐다보는 모습도 잠시 지켜본다. 방해가 될까 살짝 눈웃음으로 인사를 대신(예쁜척)하고 발걸음을 이어가면 이번에는 하늘색을 품은 비세자키 해변이 짜잔, 하고 등장한다. 후쿠기 나무가 300년이 넘는 시간 동안 꽁꽁 숨겨놓은 보물, 아름다운 오키나와의 또다른 바다다. 바다 한 켠에는 작은 카페가 차려져 있다. 카페 이름도 비세자키와 어울리는 '울트라 블루(Ultra Blue)'. 커피를 시켜두고 바다를 향해 멍을 때리면- 참 그리웠던 잉여.

수다스런 그녀들은 잠시 말을 잊고 천천히 흐르는 시간에 젖어 있다.
