How To Travel The World Without Money ! Part 2

in travel •  7 years ago

Want to travel the world for free?! Here is some more information to do just that!

In my blog: https://steemit.com/travel/@heyitshaas/how-to-travel-the-world-without-money , I explained that there are different ways to travel with no fund. I got some really great comments on that post, so today I’m writing a follow up and I’m extending on everything a bit with the help of all the input that I got on my first blog!

HelpX. https://www.helpx.net/

This suggestion was named by @leoplaw. (thanks for sharing!) Looking for food and accommodations for free…? HelpX is offering you just that! On this website, you can find organic farms, Bed and Breakfast ranches and homestays looking for your help. This organization is ideal to extend your travels, with hosts on all the continents! The concept is similar to WorkAway, but it simply gives you more options!

Couchsurfing. https://www.couchsurfing.com/

I didn’t name this option in my first blog because I thought people would be familiar with this option, but because it was suggested by @Veerall it made the list. Couchsurfing.com was started in 2004 and has over 10 million members by now! That’s a lot of couches at your fingertips! In Amsterdam (my city) alone there are over 31000 hosts to make you feel at home. One of the criteria of being a host is that you let people stay for free. Make sure to check out this option before you decide to travel and the great thing is that you can, of course, also host surfers at your place!

House swap. https://www.homeexchange.com/en/
How would you feel about having 65000 houses available to choose from?! To be able to pick one and negotiate what works best for you with people willing to swap and live in your dream house for a period of time. As awesome as this might sound, you still need to own a house in order to be able to do this. That’s why the next option will be even more interesting for you maybe.

House sitting. https://www.trustedhousesitters.com/
For everybody who doesn’t own a house to swap (like me), housesitting is a great option to travel for free. Most hosts are looking for someone to take care of their pets. So if you like pets, then housesitting is your best option to land a free accommodation while travelling.

Bla Bla Car. https://www.blablacar.com/
When I was doing research for his blog I stumbled upon Bla Bla Car. Even though this in not a free option, I got super excited about this concept. People can post rides that that they are willing to take you on for a very competitive price. Just to understand the concept, I looked into a ride from Amsterdam to Paris. I found around ten options a day for a price that are much cheaper than going by train. I am really excited about this option and will definitely use it very soon! When I do I’ll be sure to write about my experience.

More comments are always welcome of course! If there are enough new suggestions that I didn’t know about, then I’ll write a third blog even ;).
