Traveling, My Best Experiences!

in travel •  7 years ago

Friends of travelers, today I want to tell you about the way of travel by tasting, telling you about three great experiences that I have lived as many different journeys. There are those who travel exclusively to try and discover new flavours.

For me, local food is particularly important on a trip. I always try to get some moments dedicated to these experiences even if I'm not the first "engine" that moves my traveler's instinct. I don't go around to eat, but to discover new places and cultures. This desire for knowledge is also fed with local food.

Traveling Tasting - The best dining experience

In my last ten years of travel, I have really eaten everything. From the most unusual meats found in Australia, to the excellent Indian spicy food cooked in tandoori ovens, fed by cow dung. I have to say that I am lucky because I would have to tell a lot of episodes in which I found myself well at the table on the road, but one beats everyone. You know, my heart remained in Patagonia, along with my stomach. The most engaging experience that more fits the title of the article "traveling tasting" I tried it in the Peninsula of Valdés in Argentina.

I spent the second half of the Christmas afternoon on horseback. The lights were those of the evening, warm and sharp. There was the typical wind of Patagonia and after a few hours riding an Argentine horse and waiting for sunset, the need for a warm environment was felt.

The Estancia property that hosted me for the night, had organized the Christmas dinner with the typical Argentinean Asado, cooked in the "Cocina de Peones", a warm and cosy atmosphere. The Asado was cooked in the huge fireplace by the gaucho.

During his slow progress in governing the fire, with his deep and warm voice, he told us stories of the past. This for me is the kind of experience you have to try at the table during a trip. Traveling tasting the best wine

In this article I'm talking about my experiences abroad so, excluding all the tastings made in Italy that are certainly at the top of the world as quality, for wine I have not many doubts. South Africa gave me an unforgettable experience.

Cape Town, crazy, colourful and scented with spices. Have you ever seen a city with a mountain in the middle? This is Cape Town with all its beauty and contradictions. Moving around the countryside, you can quickly reach the Winelands region. I was in Stellembosch and had two tastings in two different wineries. The first was specialized in bubbles, the second on red wine. (High Summer)

I remember an unusually hot afternoon, it was August month so in the southern hemisphere it was winter, but the temperature was about 20°C. I started tasting at lunchtime. You should spit the wine after tasting it, but I didn't succeed, it was too good! Before putting myself back in the car I walked for two hours between the vineyards and I discovered that there was still a bit of Italy even in South African wine. The company's oenologist was an Italian who, with the availability of the exceptional raw material, was able to make a wine at the height of our finest.

It was also special in the afternoon because when I reached Cape Town I went to the coast at the foot of Table Mountain and waited for the sunset. If you are interested in knowing more about Cape Town, you may be interested in this article.

Traveling tasting the Happiest Beer

Wine is to be found in Italy as beer is to Belgium. It would be too easy to say that the best beer you drink on the road is the Trappist drank in Dinant or the Blanche de Namur. There are the Belgian beers and then there are the other beers, not necessarily less good. They are two different things. It may seem incredible but the best travelling beer is not even the pint tasted in the Irish pub. I have been very undecided between two different products, thousands of miles apart and from Europe. I'm talking about Japanese Asahi (Bevuta in Japan because the ones found here are produced in Europe) and Haines beer in Alaska.

I certainly prefer craft beer from the Haines Brewing Company. Proclaimed the best beer in all the United States of America. As far as the experience of drinking this beer is concerned, it still seems to me to be there today. I arrived in Haines with a state ferry, I came from nearby Skagway and Yukon after a journey of several thousand kilometres by car. I have seen glaciers, bears and American eagles.

Haines is a small town in the north end of the Inside Passage. The sea is more than 100 kilometres away, but the smell of salt water reaches the harbour and is mixed with the smell of the nearby glaciers and the resin of the conifers cut in the numerous sawmills. The water to drink is excellent, comes directly from the aquifer fed by glacial water and contributes to the success of the beer. In this article I told you everything about Inside Passage in Alaska.
