The hot springs and geysers of the world exist as a result of the geothermal energy that bubbles beneath the surface of the earth. When the power is high enough, it pushes to the cover and offers incredible views of boiling water gusts, bright colors and strange rock formations. Best of all, however, is the ability to bathe in geothermal water, which is very rich in minerals. Here are ten geysers and hot springs of world fame:
10. Valley of the fountains, Russia
The second largest geyser in the world located on the Russian peninsula of Kamchatka. The Valley of Geysers was discovered in 1941 by a local scientist and has since become a popular tourist attraction. A landslide buried about half of all the geysers into the valley in 2007.
9. El Tatio, Chile
Located high in the Chilean Andes, El Tatio geysers field is at an altitude of 13,780 feet above sea level. The climate of the geysers field combined with the high altitude makes it one of the most extreme environments in the world. It contains more than 80 active geysers and is the third largest field of geysers on earth.
8. Rotorua, New Zealand
The city of Rotorua, known as New Zealand's Thermal Wonderland, is located on the shores of Lake Rotorua and is surrounded by several geysers and hot springs. Many of them are in parks and nature reserves. Wai-O-Tapu, with its colorful hot springs and Lady Knox Geyser, is an excellent place for geothermal activity.
7. Huanglong, China
The colorful pools of Huanglong stood formed by deposits of calcite that accumulated for hundreds of thousands of years. The area also offers a variety of ecosystems, snowy peaks and hot springs in abundance. Peal Boiling Lake, a medical mineral spring that always has a perfect temperature of 21 degrees Celsius, is located in the southern part of Huanglong.
6. Geysers of Haukadalur, Iceland
Iceland is known for its geothermal activity, and Haukadalur has some of the best geysers in the country. The fountain is capable of firing about 70 meters of boiling water and is activated three times a day. The smaller Strokkur Geyser, which is nearby, is activated every 10 minutes.
5. Pamukkale, Turkey
Pamukkale, or "cotton castle" in Turkish, looks like a landscape in another world. The travertine terraces continued formed by sediments deposited in waters of very high law, and people bathed in that resulting pools for thousands of years. Ancient Greece built a city on the summit of Pamukkale, and its ruins can still last visited today.
4. Jigokudani Monkey Park, Japan
The man not only visits this area of thermal waters, even the snowy monkeys like to bathe. Jigokudani, or Valley of Hell in English, was formed by steam bubbling on the frozen ground. The snowy monkeys come from the surrounding cliffs to bathe in the warm water in winter.
3. Dallol Ethiopia
Ethiopia is home to a strange landscape called Danakil Valley, and Dallol is a volcanic explosion crater formed in it. Numerous other holes are in the area, but Dallol created in 1926 by a volcanic eruption. This remote region more experiences the highest average warmth on earth.
2. Blue Lagoon, Iceland
Blue Lagoon in Iceland is a national symbol and is a byproduct of a nearby geothermal power plant. Near a lava flow, water does drain from the ground and turbines are used to generate electricity. The hot mineral water finally led to the lagoon. Due to its high temperature, it can last enjoyed all year round.

Yellowstone National Park was the first in the world to be located on a sizeable geothermal access point. Incredibly, it contains half of all the geothermal properties in the world and has more than 10,000. One of the most spectacular moves Grand Charismatic Spring, which can last seen in the video above. The last complete eruption of the Yellowstone volcano occurred about 640,000 years ago.
