A journey to Svalbard or Spitsbergen Day 9 part I

in travel •  7 years ago

The day started in slightly overcast condition but the weather improved during breakfast and we had amazing day cruising the pack ice! Awesome scenery and while we were slowly cruising the pack ice we saw our third Polar Bear and it wasn't in a hurry!

The captain quickly reduced speed and we managed to keep track of the bear.

The bear showed absolutely no sign of stress being followed by us.

Getting in and out of the water.

The Polar Bear got further and further away, so we left it doing what Polar Bears do which is probably hunting for food.

The Polar Bears travel from the east to the west on the pack ice around the South Cape, they call it the Polar Bear Conveyer Belt. When the bears arrive in Hornsund, they will usually seek for glaciers and later cross the mountains to Storfjorden in the east.

The sun was out out, the scenery awesome and the colors were magical.

Quite delayed by the pack ice , we finally reached Gnalodden in Hornsund.

More of that in the next post!

The Arctic is like a magical place!

Awesome views man thank you so much for taking these pics

-from a former car salesmen :)

Thanks chiefmappster! That was an amazing trip, i was very fortunate with my photographs. Former car salesman eh? New business?

You're welcome buddy. Yeah I sold cars right out of school was an awesome experience learned so much about business and life. So I always pay attention when someone says they are a car salesmen. If you can sell cars, you literally can do anything in life.

I have been helping people try and achieve their dreams since then but I wouldn't be the man I am today without selling cars thats for sure

Hope you the best buddy

What a great way to spend time, learn, enjoy and know what a beautiful world we have. Thank you for sharing with us.

Thank you @shellyduncan!

So incredibly cool to see a massive, powerful, apex predator like a polar bear. Especially watching him work an arctic ATM ;) The images are fabulous. A magical place indeed, being so pristine and clean. This is one of the few regions on earth that could pull me away from the tropics.

Thanks @ryanbiddulph, Thanks for the compliments!
