Durdle Door on the Jurassic coast in Dorset, EnglandsteemCreated with Sketch.

Formed 140 million years ago, Durdle door is a natural limestone arch near Lulworth in Dorset, England.

Day 1

It was chilly last tuesday, though the sun came out late in the morning. But regardless, I thought the English water for sure will be cold. I didn't dare try it though it didn't deter the kids from splashing and playing at the shore. Under the watchful eye of one of the dads, no one dared to go further.

The Durdle door's geology is a bit difficult to understand unless you have a geology background. I have attached the wiki link for those who are interested to know more of its' geology.

Further info can be found in www.lulworth.com

Views to the East & West of Durdle Door

West side view from Durdle door.

There is a little cove further west, as well as trails going up those cliffs. We didn't join our group in going up as went to the other side, apparently, there's a rope to hold unto as the kids as young as 5 managed the climb on their own.

East view to the left of Durdle door.

If swimming or just to sun-bathe, you can choose on which part to stay to. The east side have a lot of seaweeds all over the lagoon, but it have protruding rocks to dive from. But then nothing beats the view of DURDLE DOOR.

It's a very steep descent from the parking lot with loose stones, so proper shoes MUST be worn.

Trivia: a dinosaur bone was found in this area, hence it's called the Jurassic coast.
