[Travel]: Kasol: Solitude In The Hills.

in travel •  7 years ago

Situated in the foothills of the Parvati Valley Himalayas, Kasol is a small village in Himachal Pradesh which is hot destination amongst the backpackers all around the world.

Kasol can be reached from New Delhi via Bhuntar. One can take a bus from New Delhi to Bhuntar and then take a cab to reach Kasol.

Kasol attracts many backpackers not only from India but also from various parts of the world. Young lads from Israel often find refuge in hills after 2 years of their military regime. One can find shops and cafes with their banners written in Hebrew. Due to the same Kasol is often called Mini Israel.

Hashish or Charas which is it's local name, flows freely in Kasol and you can find stoners making joints and pulling chillums all over the place. This is one of the main reason it attracts many free spirited hippies. Hashish available for cheap here and could easily be scored from any cafe near-by.

Near to Kasol situates a place which produces the best hashish, Malana. It's around 2-3 hour trek from in the Malana Village which is surrounded by lush green trees and snow caped mountains.

And if you're hungry you can reach out to cafes which are situated in the heart of Kasol. You can choose from variety of dishes ranging from Continental, Mediterranean, Italian, Israeli and of-course, Indian. With walls covered with Bob Marley's posters and free spirited quotes, cozy mattress instead of chairs tables and soft chill-out music, you will never feel like moving out of these cafes.

Another one

The roaring river Parvati gives the background music wherever you are walking or trekking in Kasol.

The most amazing part of Kasol is it's people. You can find the most friendly and humble people in this place. They are most helpful, soft spoken and many are well worse in English, so language is not at all a problem. You will always find them smiling. They will always welcome you with warm hands.

So, what are you waiting for ? Pack your bags and Chalo Kasol [Go Kasol].
