Jalan Alor is a famous Tourist destination in Kuala Lumpur and has been listed as the best hawker food in Kuala Lumpur. They are lots of hawker stalls and seafood restaurants in Jalan Alor and Tripadvisor and other web sites have featured this place as a "Must See" for Tourists.
Look at how the street started having a lot of activities even when it is just 5.30pm in KL. We are considered as 'early bird' since the real action only starts around 8.30 /9.00pm to the early hours of the morning. There are just so so many choices of food, choices of restaurants selling similar food ( Seafood BBQ & Cooking, Grilled and BBQ Chicken, Satay, etc) and other "dying trade food" like "Tu Tu" (steamed flour cake with filings of coconut, peanuts and red bean paste), "Muar Chee", which is actually cooked glutinous rice flour, make into a dough and dipped into sweet finely grounded peanut. It is a dying trade as the younger generations are not taking over this trade. It takes skill and experience to make the dough in a perfect texture.
As the night progress, more and more people were filling up the street and it became so congested that it was impossible to even stop and take a street photo. I did try to take some stalls name but not with so many people coming into the picture. I intended to take another street photo when it was packed so that you all can see the comparison with the earlier photos. But unfortunately with the street area so crowded, it was impossible.
These are hand made colourful Dim Sums that you can find in Jalan Alor. There are a couple of stalls offering these Dim Sum. I took from this stall as it has the most presentable collection ( varies colour and varieties of shapes) verses the other stalls which has less varieties and colours. I am sure you all agree that these are really appetising and they are delicious in taste as well. This particular stall is slightly more expensive than the other stalls. But I am prepared to pay more as it looks cleaner and their display looks more presentable.
This stall is selling BBQ Pork, which they BBQ in front of the customers giving the effect that these are done freshly and not pre-BBQ and re heat for them. So customers that buy can actually eat them warm or hot, but most will buy by a kilo or half a kilo and bring back home to share with their family.
This is a stall selling Durians, known as the "King Of Fruits". It is a fruit that you either Love it or Hate it. Some people are so turned off by them that they can get sick just smelling them. Others will get so "High" just smelling them. Those that love it will look forward to their season in order to be able to eat them and willing to pay for them. Some people in Singapore will organise Durian eating group to travel to Malaysia in order to buy and eat them.
This is another stall selling fried food of different varieties as can be seen from the photo. They are selling all kinds of fried stuff from French Fries, Meat & Seafood ( Chicken nuggets, Spicy Chicken, Fish Balls, Cuttlefish, Fish Fingers, Pork cubes, Pork fillet, etc....) Many people will just buy a couple of Sticks and walk around enjoying the scenes and activities and eat them at the same time. These are sold per stick and they are inexpensive as Malaysia Rgts (compared to SGD, AUD and USD) is very cheap. Like 1 SGD and USD equals to 3 Rgts.
I have taken lots of photos from Jalan Alor, and will do another post with all the stalls tomorrow.
In the meantime enjoy these ones and thanks for reading this post and supporting.
