Local Elections South Africa - You will not believe your eyes!

I know the elections which is on everybody's mind and everybody is talking about is the upcoming US elections. This is fully understandable taking into account that the US is the leader of the free world as we know it.

It was however local elections in South Africa on the 3rd of August 2016. Not too much to write about from the election side, and it sounds like a very boring subject… But wait, can there be something more exciting happening? You will not believe your eyes when you see what is following.

Please note that the voting station is in Pretoria, Administrative Capital City of South Africa in the centre of Gauteng, the financial capital of African...

So follow me in few pictures

We arrived at the voting station

The normal queuing of cars and then queuing again to cast your vote

Finished voting and staring into the distance with my two little one's … but what are we staring at?

Our view

Let's zoom in a further ...

Yes it is indeed Springbok, Zebra, Blesbok and Impala!

Ok we did vote in a small conservation area , but still. Being an animal and nature lover, we are blessed to live in such a wonderfull country. I wanted to highlight to the audience here is that South Africa is indeed a very unique country and a must visit for any traveller. Or for those who want looking for the next great holiday destination.

Wonderful to see some untouched nature. Hope humanity will learn before its too late. We need to stop destroying our own planet

Nice photos. I would like travel to Afrika!
Up for gazelle :)

And that's why e-voting will not success...

Indeed @acec :)

Great post, upvoted. Your South Africa and my South Africa are very different though!

The only time I see animals like that is at the zoo.

SA is beautiful! I was there for a holiday around 2000 and I really loved it. You are lucky to live there! :)

That's amazing! :) Extra motivation for people to go out and vote, you get a free safari trip too.

Thank, @jacor! Yes, I would love to come to you in South Africa with my family! Here in Siberia (Russia) summers are very short and winters are long and harsh. And you can't see zebras and Impalas :) People in Siberia get tired from the constant cold of winter and crave the sun. But it seems to me that in such warm places like Africa, people are tired from the heat and yearn for coolness. Am I right? ;)

Hi @omfedor, we have the exact opposites, we have short winters ... the photo you saw is in the winter! Nice and long sunny summers. Please let me know when you to decide to take the big step in choosing South Africa as your next holiday destination for your family. I will go out of my way to ensure you have a nice Itinerary , and see the most beautiful places. Have a look at the post where I feature @naomi-louise on my blog . It features some nice photo's of the Mupmulanga region. North East of South-Africa. I will even arrange that you come and visit me in Pretoria for a real South-Africa Braai!! (Barbecue) . Do you guys enjoy eating meat ?

Thank you so much for an open heart and hospitality, @jacor! Now I really wanted to visit you :) Especially that Mupmulanga region. I appreciated @naomi-louise article and your desire to help good but unknown authors. Unbelievable, how beautiful and diverse this world is!

And as for meat, well, actually it's not my favorite food. But in any case, thank you so much for the warmth and responsiveness!

@jacor : I hope the candidate who you voted for wins.

I've often thought of visiting South Africa to volunteer at one of the Wild Animal sanctuaries. As a local, are they typically good for the animals or are they simply a method of drawing in tourists? Can/do you recommend any of them?

@gikitiki , you will love South Africa and the Wildlife sanctuaries are wonderfull places for the animals. We have many Nature Reserves which you will also love to visit. I will do some research for you on which Wildlife sanctuaries is the best where you can volunteer, there are so many.

Great post, really liked to read it. Thanks.

Thanks for your comment @andrewawerdna
