Driving up the middle of Australia, I thought, it would be, as it was the last time, 16 years ago, relatively easy to find accommodation.
But I was wrong! Coober Pedy was booked out!
So, we headed off towards, Glendgambo. 250kms @ 110kms per hour=less than 2.5 hours.
Nope! Wrong again.
Emus & Kangaroos come down along the road side, just a quick 2 steps, or hops, right in front of the car.
Baby joeys, & emu chicks, just like sitting in the middle of the road, only moving last minute. There was noway I could do 110kms, so I meandered along at 80km, having to break hard a half dozen times to avoid a collision.
I didn't have a handy camera person, so my images are limited. Here is an emu today.
We made it at Glendambo at 10pm. Luckily for us, the publican, Rob, was waiting for some customers, otherwise, we would have been stranded.
He said "No offense, but, you have to be crazy to drive at night around here." He was right!
This is supercool! @jagged Thanks! Followed...
