Trip to Gettysburg

I used to take tons of photos everywhere we went. I'm not sure why I don't anymore. I'm sure selling my good DSLR to pay for car repairs played a roll in that, but it feels like something more. I was living my life thru a camera lens back before it was cool ;) I guess now I feel like there is too much of that, and not enough of just experiencing life without the camera between you and it.

Having said that... I did take a few photos at Gettysburg. Some were with my $20 cell phone and some were with my son's Fuji point and shoot. The ones I feel like sharing are somewhat non-traditional in that they aren't so much the scenery as perhaps photos of my kids that crack me up.

I did shoot a roll of film, but I am notorious for waiting years to develop film :)

This was at the Devil's Den --up above it. I tried to climb up that rock too but had recently hurt my knee and didn't want to fall and look like an idiot.

Again, Devil's Den. The kids stand next to a giant rock that seems to be defying the laws of physics.

Here I'm being informed that the sun is in their eyes :) I'm thinking I ought to frame this, or make it the Christmas Card this year!

Sometimes it is hard to imagine that the whole town was the battlefield. It's some 6,000 acres. I've lived in PA probably 3/4s of my life and had never been to Gettysburg before. Seeing the sheer size and spending hours driving around the battlefield was quite the experience.

Here we have a barn that still has a cannon ball hole in it today.

We had three days there but the last day was a disaster because my car broke down. Which is pretty typical for my luck :) You could spend weeks in Gettysburg exploring everything. Maybe when I'm over the stress from the last trip we'll go back :)

I love the Christmas card photo!

LOL

So does anyone know why the thumbnail image isn't showing up on this post in my feed? That's going to drive me crazy.

We do see the thumbnail in our feed...

It's weird I can see it on mobile, but it won't load on my lap top.

Hmmm weird. Thumbnails wont load at my offices pc but thats due to the company's firewall or so...

I don't know.
I've seen it happen occasionally to other people but it has never happened to me.
Maybe it's because of the type of picture it is -- like not a regular format type of .jpeg or something common.
Hope that you figure it out.

Hoping you will share more pictures :) so are you still using film and let it be developped? That's awesome!!! :) Followed 🐳! We do travel vlogs on YouTube and would like to make global connections on Steemit 🌎! Follow us back so we can be friends 🤗

Yes, I still love using film. And I have a bad habit of buying any old film camera that I come across at thrift shops :) Followed you :)
