TUBING RIVER CHANNEL. Most popular tourist summer spot in Penticton.

This is one of the most popular tourist places to come and enjoy the summer in the amazing Penticton, BC, Canada; the river channel where it is packed with tubers going down this river channel which starts from the Okanagan Lake and finishes in the Skaha Lake.

This is actually the finish point of this channel, since it is really dangerous to go past this point, since right after the bridge there is a strong current where there were quite few people drowning.

This is the bridge where you can find a very strong and dangerous current flowing into the Skaha Lake.

There is a warning sign, for the public, but most of the time there are people who work with the tubing bus rental who help to pull people to the stairs before they enter the bridge.

Right now it looks pretty lonely and dark, but wait until the summer. This place is insane.

If you go tubing all the way to this point, it usually takes about 2 hrs. to get to this point, depending on how fast the river is moving.
There is another get out point in the middle of the river channel where there are also tubing rental buses ready to take you back to the starting point or where you parked your car.

But in reality you can get on this river channel from anywhere you want and you can get off anywhere you want. It is pretty safe, depending on the water level which is controlled by the dam which is build to control the Okanagan Lake water levels, but every year there are few drowning accidents, but that is mostly due to drinking while tubing in this high heat, and people jumping off the bridges or tying your tubes together which makes it easy to get tangled.

You can see the beautiful, our favorite beach, the Skaha Lake where most of the people come after tubing down the river.

You will either need two cars when you are planning to go tubing down the river, since you need to get to the starting point and when you get to the finish point, you will need a car waiting for you there so that you can go back to get your drop off car. Or you can have someone drop you off and pick you up in few hours in the end point.
And then there is another option, which is great for tourist people and that is renting the tubes and getting the tubing bus to pick you up at the end point.

This is the first stop where you can get off the river channel which is half way from the start point and half way to the finish point. You can also start your tubing from this point to the end. It is all up to you.
The tubing buses are also at this point and so are the guys to help you get to the shore.

This is just one of the bridges you go underneath. This is where we lost a young man last year when they went tubing in the high levels of the water which makes the river go faster and stronger (dangerous and not recommended) and their tubes were all tied up. Their tubes got stack in the middle post of the bridge and one of the boys got trapped by the tubes and ropes and couldn't make it.

This usually happens to tourists who don't know if the river is high and dangerous, or normal and safe, plus like I said drinking is involved and being a bit crazy might not be a great idea.
I'm not trying to scare you, but don't do silly things especially in a place you are not familiar with.

This river is awesome and it is not deep, that is why I go on it because if it was a deep river, there is no way I would go tubing down this river channel.

It's really a beautiful place my dear friend @joalvarez. I can imagining it in summer by adding some more blue to the sky, some more light provided by the sun and some more green to the grass :) I took this tour with you as a great tour guide thanks to your detail description of the scenery and those wonderful photos. Always wishing you and your family a great life.

Yes. That is what is missing and what I've been missing for all these long winter months is the blue sky and the bright sun which makes the lakes and the channel so blue and clear.
