A 100% tax increase on (concert-)tickets

in travel •  7 years ago

Concert tickets, food, hotel stays everything went up in the Netherlands. This is due to a VAT increase of 100% it applies to daily life. And one of the important sectors cultural such as festivals, converts & food. There is something very remarkable about this tax increase though. Not a single party had mentioned it anywhere during in election time. However this a result of the new cabinet and its policy. According to the calculations, the average Dutch person increases a little in buying power. This is however despite the tax increase from 6% to 9% on groceries.

If you are wondering why your trip to festivals like the Amsterdam Dance Event, Lowlands, Pinkpop or Down The Rabit Hole end up being overall around 3% or more expensive it's due to a 100% tax increase on the VAT of tickets, food & hospitality-services and likely a little inflation in the Netherlands.
