Bruges, Belgium (Tips & Pictures)

Bruges is a cultural icon and a small, charming city with a population of about 118,000 people. If you like to drink great beer and stroll around medieval cities, Bruges is the place for you. In my opinion, the best time to visit would be in winter or early spring as you'll get stunning views, a dusting of snow and fewer tourists to compete with. This trip of mine reflects a visit in early March.

Beer, as I'd mentioned is remarkable and plentiful in the country of Belgium. A great place to stop while on your trip in Bruges would be De Halve Maan Huisbrouwerij. You can take the tour if you'd like....or you can go straight to drinking in the cafe.

And what better way to warm up on a cold day than to have some BEER CHEESE SOUP!

After you're filled with glorious food & drink you can head over to the center of the city. As I'd mentioned before....big crowds in the spring & summer but not so much in the end of winter. There will be no wait when you go to climb the famous clock tower.

And if you're feeling goofy on your ascent, you can hide behind the stairs making weird faces as you creep out the other tourists.

It's always a pleasure to stroll along the cobblestone streets & see the various parks in Bruges. KONINGIN ASTRIDPARK is a good one to visit. On a chilly winter day....even the swans are still out bathing themselves.

Oh, look who I found. It's Rob! And he's playing in an empty playground in the middle of Bruges.

Remember him from the Harderkulm post? If not, you can check it out here- https://steemit.com/travel/@josephmcconnell/hiking-harderkulm-tips-and-pictures

I guess I'd better join him.

Bruges is for strolling around. You stroll and stroll and stroll and look at really cool stuff.

Now after you're done strolling your day away I'd advise you to find this place, DRUIDS CELLAR. It's a very warm and cozy pub off the beaten path. The staff is friendly and they've got BEER. It's great BEER too!

I hope you've enjoyed this little jaunt around Bruges. If you like to walk around, drink beer, look at awesome old cities and have some peace and quiet..... do yourself a favor & save up some money and visit this remarkable city (in late winter if possible-that's the best time).
