Many of us have had the dream to quit your day job and chase after our "dreams." I have always disliked working for others and that could very much have to do with the fact that I have been in the service industry most of my life. I spent 10 years as a bartender, 6 as a server, and 3 working at Apple as a so called, "expert." I had done these jobs just to survive and pay my bills while I worked my way through college.
Fast forward to now. I quit working at Apple 1 month ago to travel and so far it has been an amazing experience. Don't get me wrong it can be scary many days when I am finding my place in the world as a global citizen, but it can also be incredibly rewarding. I recently found myself in Cuba and I must say that as an American, I was terrified the entire time. Now I have to preface with the fact that the year before I lived in Italy and had visited close to 10 European countries. None of the experiences I ever had prepared me properly for the sites of Cuba.
My point here is not to bash on Cuba or my trip that ended with me being drugged by my pedicab driver. My point is that I challenged myself to do something I had always wanted to do and it scared the shit out of me. The beauty of that moment is that I felt alive. I left my job to feel alive and thats what traveling did for me. Since visiting Cuba, I have been to London, Amsterdam, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and San Diego. This month has been absolutely amazing and I recommend that you stop finding the excuses you have always found and spread your wings.
Birds are meant to fly, so fly then.

This sounds like an amazing journey for you! (Aside from the whole getting drugged thing) I’ve always had a heart for travel...but life happpend and it just hasn’t been in the cards for me. I hope to see more of your travels and live vicariously through you! I have hopes to travel one day...after retirement!
