The lockdown gave me an opportunity to go walking around famous sightseeing spots around the old city of Bangkok. It felt very strange not seeing a single Chinese tourists and the road was very quiet and empty. I walked slowly along the road along the wall of the Grand Palace with the feeling that I was left alone and all the people were transported to another planet. I took the express boat to the nearest pier and started my contemplative walk. It was good to have quiet space and time within myself from time to time.
The river view from the express boat and the area in front of the pier which was empty of tourists.
I could see the main entrance of the Grand Palace fine the road but it was still closed under lockdown, so I took my right turning along the wall and river on my right hand side.
The view of the top of the Grand Palace could be seen on my left. The old trees look very unstable with some metal poles for support. I had squirrels and pigeons to keep me company along the way. I kept looking over the river on my right for the glimpse of the temple on the other side.
As I walked nearer the junction by Wat Pho, I could see the famous Wat Arun or the Temple of Dawn on the other side of the river.
My old iPhone did not like lowering light much, so my zoom photos are always very pale looking! The last renovation job on the Prang or main Pagoda of Wat Arun was rather disappointing; they took out the original bright coloured porcelains out and replaced them with pastel colours pieces.
I like those rows of old buildings along the area around the smaller pier at the back of the Grand Palace. These old buildings have been nicely renovated. They are about one hundred years old.
Since the weather was so nice I decided to take an express boat back to the Sathorn Pier to connect with the skytrain. The old restaurant by this small pier is called Ta Tian. This was where I took my Steemian friends for diner and to enjoy the sunset by the Prang of Wat Arun. Those were the good old days for four full days’ sightseeing of Bangkok last November!
Life seems to be too short to finish all loose ends and time flies by in a flash. So I had better make the most of each moment today!
Wishing you a very nice day!
Cheers.
Great shots!
