The weather has been cooperating although slightly cool but you can see spring has arrived in England. Manchester Cathedral was bathed in sunlight when we arrived. I was surprised at how close the surrounding buildings are. Not much room to back up for a good photo from the side that had the sunlight.
When we arrived, there had been a mass going on in an inside enclosure and I bumped into the priest as he was leaving it. At least one set of my g-g-grandparents had been married here and I was wondering where. He replied that it was a good question as there were many different places people were married and when the Cathedral was the only church in the growing city, couples were lining up to be married.
There has been a church on this site, possibly since 923 AD. More photos to follow.

Visiting churches, cathedrals is one of my favourite reason for travelling in Europe. Must put Manchester on the list!
