This is the Mersey River (pronounce it as Merzy), subject of the popular 1964 Gerry and the Pacemakers' song "Ferry Cross the Mersey." There was a movie about it too.
Over to the right side, you can see a small ferry. The song's underlying rhythm was meant to mimic the sound the old ferries made.
Since they go together, here is the very modern looking ferry terminal.
