Oh, this is great news! Will you be staying in the city center?

Heraklion is a wonderful city, full of historical monuments but also with modern places and plenty of shops nearby. The good thing is that you can visit many places of interest by feet, as they are in walking distance.

You should visit the old Venetian Port and Fortress, and also the beautiful Venetian monuments in the center like the Loggia, the Saint Marc Basilica, the Morosini Fountain and the Cathedral of Saint Menas. If you enjoy museums, do not miss the renovated Archaeological Museum of Heraklion (best combined with Knossos Palace)

Thanks a lot for the recommendations. We booked a place through Airbnb near the Bethlehem Gate so it’s not far from the centre.
