The Ritz must be London’s most famous and glamorous hotel. Today you have to enter this side entrance though it the colonnaded front that most people know it by

As you walk in you see the long corridor and the tea room off to the left.

At the far end is the very glamorous restaurant. I haven’t eaten there in years but like most of the hotels it has a very good set price lunch.

But the purpose of today was to share with you the treat of going to the Rivoli bar which is simply beautiful – a lunch time rather than evening place.

don’t know about you but my souflés never rise. So having a michelin star chef’s souflé of the day is the ultimate treat.

I know its possible to eat an entire meal for 10 pounds in some places, in which case to some people 13 pounds for a desert isn’t cheap. But to have a Michelin chef prepared Prune and Armagnac Souflé at the Rivoli bar in this beautiful hotel for 13 pounds strikes me as discerningly good value for an occasional treat! You don’t have to order a whole meal – you can just order the souflé. It arrived with the prune having been marinated in armagnac for quite some time and more armagnac drizzled over the top. The spoon tapped the top and then broke into delicious sponginess that I don’t think I will ever be able to match with mine. At the bottom was more armagnac and a little puddle of buttery luxury.

Looks delicious! I really enjoyed reading your experience of The Ritz :)

Thanks so much.

wow.. great place to visit..

So that’s what it looks like inside. I have always wanted to go to the Ritz, since I have walked past it a hundred times! Need to find a partner in crime, buy some new clothes, smart shoes and get a haircut, the list goes on. Excuses, excuses :)
