Today, we want to show you our trip to Mt. Capistrano!

This mountain was named after a General who’s surname was Capistrano and was rumored that his remains were buried on the mountain. (According to friends, who lives in Malaybalay.)

Location: Malaybalay City, Bukidnon

  • Note: We had our own ride so we didn’t commute during this trip. Thanks to the supportive parents of Jireh! Hehe.

Although we had friends who already trekked the mountain about five times, it was mandatory to take a tour guide with us. Orders were from the Barangay, it was for safety purposes and to stop irresponsible climbers from throwing garbages on the mountain.

Tour guide: P500 pesos

We went there as a group so we divided the 500 pesos tour guide fee.

It took us about 2hours and a half to reach the peak of Capistrano. And it only took Jireh, 30 minutes to reach the peak.

  • We’ll tell you about Jireh later, he really can help you with your trip to Bukidnon and could guide you there.

The road to Capistrano was not pretty easy as we thought it would be. We had to passed by a corn field which was not pretty bad though til we reach the STAIRS! Yes, you heard it right! It was about 200 steps and the rise of it was too high! It was the most exhausting part of the trek, or so we thought.

After that exhausting and frustrating 200 step stair climbing, we finally got to the 3rd level of the Capistrano challenge. There were not much trees to take shade and the path was too steep. We only held on to ropes. It was fun and challenging especially with the weather.

Two of our friends fainted due to lack of sleep. Guys, please if you want to trek be sure that your in good condition. It was a good thing that they were helped immediately but no it did not stop them and still went on the journey to reach the peak of Capistrano.

We continued to climb the steep paths of Capistrano despite the scorching heat of the sun.
What made us continue the climb was the view! We weren’t halfway yet to the peak but the view was majestic! And figured that the best is yet to come!

Finally, the 4th level was the coolest part of the mountain. We were surrounded by trees despite that coolness the path got much harder! There were no ropes to hold on to just tree branches and roots. It was quite challenging.

Just be careful though. The peak is composed of rocks and you have to jump at them to get a picture perfect view. In front of Mt. Capistano you’ll see Mt. Kitanglad known as the sleeping giant of Bukidnon. It actually looks like a woman sleeping.

You can also go camping here. It has a pretty nice view in the morning. Who wouldn’t be amazed by a sea of clouds!
