Hyatt Regency Tokyo Robot

On my last stay at the Hyatt Regency in Shinjuku (Tokyo), I SPOTTED this qute robot. I had seen this robot in department stores before, but the way the Hyatt has implemented it seems smart. You can pickup a card from the sideboard nearby and show the card to the robot. The robot will than start a guided tour for you.

I took the Bonsai Museum Card

And the robot correctly started the Bonsai Museum Guide Tour 

It will show you pictures and the history of each location

Interesting implementation

It was an interesting experience interacting with this robot. The idea to let the robot scan the card and than educate guests about local attractions seems to be smart. Many guests were using the bot to find out about some attractions. I am sure that in the near future, every room will have a service robot. The bot might do basic stuff like bring you water or stuff you ordered from room-service and of course inform you of local attractions etc.
