Szeged - a wonderful city in Hungary (Part 3 - restaurants and cafés II.)

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

This is the third post about our weekend trip in Szeged, I continue to share our dining experiences. :-)

On the second day we wanted to eat some sweets, so we found Capella Coffee House (http://www.acappella.atw.hu). It looked fancy from outside so we entered the shop. The cakes and biscuits are on the ground floor, but there are a few tables on the gallery if you would like to sit down.

We had to wait for a while for the waiter to recognize us and ask for the order, which was quite a disappointment, because the place was not crowded. We ordered mulled wine

and Gerbeaud rolls

Same as upon arrival, we had to go down and look for the waiter, because he disappeared for quite a long time after we had finished and wanted to pay. The place was rather a disappointment, though the cakes and the wine were excellent, but the service was rather awful. The only funny thing was a table saying "there is no wifi, talk to each other", I liked that:

Katedrális Restaurant

For dining out we selected a very nice restaurant at the Dome Square, the Cathedral (Katedrális) Restaurant (https://www.katedralisetterem.hu). It was a very stylish restaurant with nice white, beige enteriours and a cool atmosphere. Here are some photos to show you the marvellous design:

The walls, the napkins, the table mats and even the carpet is decorated by details from the plans of the Cathedral:

We were really amazed by the nice details, but our satisfaction was even better when we received the food. Here is what we have ordered:

Veal stew with dill and sour-cream noodles

IMG_5792.jpg

Beef tenderlion with corn cream and chilli sauce

IMG_5793.jpg

Roasted chicken breast with grilled vegetables and mozzarella served with fried potatoes

We were full enough not to be able to taste the sweets, I was really sorry because of that, since I have noticed that one of my favourites is on the menu (Chocolate souffle with pop-rocks candy and passion fruit sauce). Well, we have to leave some open pages for next time... :-)

This is a place where I will surely return in the future. As a conclusion I would say that we were lucky to select two great restaurants for the two dinners, therefore I do not feel bad about not finding the best Coffee House... Next time we continue discovering the gems of Szeged from a culinary aspect.

"there is no wifi, talk to each other" seems good idea

:-)) I liked it!

During this dinner my only disappointment was that I had to wait for @ksolymosi and @popovicsjodie taking pictures of my food and drink. :-)

LOL - we just tested your patience :-))))

I'm really a sucker for sweets - and those cream pie edges look amazing! I have never thought of that before. I hope you enjoyed them!

Yes, it was fantastic. I am also a fan of the edges, I like the pastry very much, it's nice and crispy :-)
