Come Along [11] - National Park Paradise

There are so many beautiful islands in Thailand, so many different ones to choose from to relax on the beach. But tell me, how many are National Parks? Koh Samet is a really special island near Bangkok who’s beauty and charm was slowly revealed as I stayed there.

Waking up in the morning, steps away from the beach for only $55 dollars a night. It doesn't get much better than this. I grabbed my towel and headed down to the nearly empty beach, found a spot underneath a tree and listened to some music as I soaked in the warmth.

When everyone got up we rented scooters and rode around exploring the island. Such a beautiful island with rock lined beaches and clear waters. The trees hanging over the sand bringing plenty of shade cover. There are a bunch of dogs roaming around the island freely, very cute it’s like a little paradise for them. We found a couple of nice spots to take pictures of around the island and headed back to get some dinner. On the way back to the hotel we stumbled across a glow in the dark paint bar and released our artists.

On our last day it was time to decide where to go next. Josh and Chad were heading to Cambodia, Ben and Nicola back to Bangkok, and as for me I decided to catch a last minute flight to Phuket in hopes of meeting my friends in Ko Phi Phi. With that in mind we went to get some massages on the beach and take a swim before heading out.

My fondest memory was swimming out to a floating deck with Nicola. It looked so close but the eyes can be deceiving. I have to admit by the time we reached there I was pretty tired from the swim. After arriving a man on the beach that owned a handmade jewelry store, decided to come swim over to hang out with us. He told us his life stories of traveling around the world before deciding to call Koh Samet his home. Such a grand life of travel during a time when it was not so easy. Soon 2 kids on a canoe with a golden retriever paddled up as well to collect clams attached. It was peaceful watching them swim and play around. A lovely way to end our last moments on this island.

Thanks for Coming Along!
See you again in Pt 11

Haah! @lalilands, just heard today that my sister is heading off to your neck of the woods in a couple of weeks. Well actually she's going next door to KL. Fabulous looking place and the tranquility seems awesome. I come from a fairly quiet place by the sea myself, but unfortunately we don't get the weather to enjoy it, so I could murder for a few days of sun, sand and sea :).

So I guess we can expect a few pics of Phuket next, and I hear that it's as near to paradise on earth as you can get. Enjoy!

Really!? That's so awesome! Where do you come from. You definitely need a break to catch some sunshine. Take a break and go join you sister !

I live in the north west corner of Ireland, where the nearest windbreak is the statue of Liberty. When I look out in the morning and I can see the mountains, then it is going to rain. If I can't see the mountains, then it is already raining! 😏

My sister is traveling with her family and so I'd have more tranquility at home 😂

Love Koh Samet as like you said it's so close to Bangkok for a quick weekend getaway. Yes, Pattaya is closer or even Hua Hin, but just the feeling of being on an island with less tourists and a bit better beaches (still not great) is somewhat more relaxing. Sam went there six/seven years ago when the roads through the island weren't paved, but Becca went there last year with a friend visiting from the U.K. and had a smooth ride with their rented scooter. Best way to explore the island, which can be done in a day! :)

Wow can't imagine what it was like a few years ago must have been so untouched! There's less and less places in the world like that now. Must have been such a great experience !

Even back in 2010/2011, the main town that you come into was heaving with backpackers. Sam and his family took the big tuk tuk with other tourists and the journey was very bumpy! Dropping off all the other tourists at their resort, we arrived at the end of the island to our resort. However it took a big effort for the tuk tuk to get up and over the steep hill at the end. We went backwards for a good 2-3 metres before the driver slammed on the brakes - scary! Yet, once there, it was our secluded paradise.

Such a beautiful and amazing place. @lalilands

It was really different from the other islands! Great place

Wow, so laid back and just relaxing. It was like everything you did there was in slow motion. Just enjoying life and all the island had to offer. Thanks for sharing these photos! I have never heard of Koh Samet but I would really like to visit now!

Super laid back! I've never heard of it as well cause is not one of the main popular islands. But worth a visit if you're near Bangkok!

How fun! What a colorful place - glad you got to meet your friends. It's so cool when things work out like that. On the flipside, from planned to unplanned meetings, swimming by the dock with locals, dogs and so forth just sounds lovely. Travel safe.

Meeting friends when traveling is the best! Makes the experience so much more memorable. Thanks for reading ❤️

It’s a real paradise very nice post and photos @lalilands

Thank you!! It was a really pleasant surprise I had no expectations coming to the island.

And that should make it better as for u👍🏼
