Situated on the eastern slopes of the Sierras, Mammoth Lakes is positioned for nice dry powder that comes every winter and, at times, in heavy amounts of snowfall. When the snow starts coming in early winter the landscape begins to brush itself white. As the winter progresses the area becomes saturated in white and provides a picturesque view in every direction.
We were fortunate to be there during an especially heavy snowfall, over 7 ft in 36 hours. The town of Mammoth Lakes was blanketed in snow.
As the snowfall continued cars, houses, and many other things became swallowed in the building mass of snow.
When the snow ceased and the sun began to shine again, the sights were quite remarkable.
After a heavy snowfall the landscape was stunning with it's crisp new white covering the area. On any day Mammoth is an amazing place. The transition towards summer brings shades of emerging green mixed with residual white from the lingering snow, summer exposes the granite peaks and wildflowers, autumn displays a shift in colors, but the winter time (especially with this much snow) provides the awe and amazement of something different and special in it's own way.
Nice one.....on day I'll tour to city of snow.....I havent experienced one before

Oh yes, 60 feet fell on us this winter- I’ve never experienced anything like it... and the town just kept right on going!

I like that the bus is in here! Basically your second home while there! I remember the stories you had to tell! So glad I got to visit you there

Me too!! Could you believe the snow drifts got bigger than those buses!? It was insanity and magic all mixed up~ purple skied thunder-snow storms and coyote calls all night to wake up to sparkling crystal wonderland:)) Definitely not Hawaii, hahaha!
