Rotorua Geothermal Park-NEW ZEALAND

in travel •  6 years ago  (edited)

In this video I visit Rotorua, a town set on its namesake lake on New Zealand's North Island, is renowned for its geothermal activity and Maori culture. In Te Puia’s Whakarewarewa Valley, there are bubbling mud pools and the 30m-tall Pohutu Geyser, which erupts many times daily. It’s also home to a living Maori village and the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute, with traditional wood carving and weaving schools.

Kia ora! It was nice to see some of my culture on display here in your video. I'm not of Māori descent myself, but I do celebrate Māori culture as my New Zealand heritage. I hope you enjoyed your time in Rotorua. If you have any questions about what you saw at the pōwhiri (welcoming) at the marae, I am no expert, but I may be able to answer them for you, or point you to resources that explain it all further. Ka kite anō.

I want to see some photos and info. about New Zealand on your posts, it will do great there or on video too! :-)

Unfortunately, I don't get out much these days, so I don't get much of an opportunity to take my own photos of this beautiful country that I live in. As a youngster, I did a huge walk from Cape Reinga in the North, and intended to go all the way to Invercargill in the South, but only made it to the Bay of Plenty and found a job there. I never did complete the journey, and my photos back then were on film rather than digital, and not very good quality for digitising, either.

If I do this, it'll have to be with appropriately licensed stock images, I'm afraid.
