Really? That's a shame. Asia is such a safe place to travel for men and women, as well as Europe. It looks like you were travelling with your boyfriend though so as long you didn't do anything stupid and didn't stray too far from the tourist path you should have been fine. It's the single female travellers who go to random countries that I worry about. There's a lot of sickos out there :-(

Yes he always protects me away from the weird people when we traveled around. For sure I never go out along if that is a dangerous place. I also need to protect myself too :)

One thing I have learned while travelling is that 98% of people are genuinely kind and will look out for their fellow man, especially one feeling overwhelmed and lost in a foreign country. However the more desperate the country the more likely that evil rears its ugly head. I've been in places by myself absolutely convinced that I was going to get robbed, but I never did. However I am a male and the dynamic completely changes for the opposite sex in a way that I will never be able to comprehend.

Yes totally bro @lewisjfclarke . On a side note: I have traveled 100 counties, of which the whole Latin America (central and south) was part. Belize city stands apart. There are parts of the city where you just do not go, similar to certain favelas in Brazil, if not worse. As a solo white or asian girl (yes race matters unfortunately) - forget it, suicide move. THanks for your comment!

It is sad, but race really does matter. There was a situation I had in Bulgaria where two police officers surrounded me and demanded to see my passport (Long story). I gave it to them and they smiled and said "Oh...English!" With a huge smile as they handed it back, and waved me on my way. I dread to think what would happen if my passport was Turkish or from any other country where the media has created tension recently...
I also had a mate that got robbed in Southern Africa (I don't remember which country) and he said, "It was my fault, I was walking in the street on my own..." It's easy to forget that some places are desperate and do what they can to survive. They see us as rich, and in a way we are rich because we can afford food, a bed, and a plane ticket to take us to another part of the world...
Wow, 100 countries, that puts my 25-30 odd to shame! Any recommendations? I loved Macedonia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania and Philippines of the top of my head. Italy has some incredible places to see of the beaten path (plus it helps that I speak a bit of Italian) Thailand is great too but I'm a bit biased because I live there now...

South Af is crazy racist, and not exactly from white folks anymore. Let's just say it plain and honest. I recommend Central Asia a lot. Tajikistan and Armenia is my favs. Cheers bro thanks for sharing

I had a mate who went to Tajikistan and raved about it! Also met some Armenian girls in Chiang Mai and the pictures they showed me of Armenia and the surrounding countries were amazing. Would like to check them out one day.
No worries. Thanks for taking the time to reply back :-)
