Pripyatski national Park – a unique nature reserve

Pripyatski national Park – a unique nature reserve in Polesie Belarus. Today its total area is about nineteen acres, 850 square kilometers of which are a protected area. Accordingly, its territory covers several regional centers of Gomel region: Zhitkovichi, Petrikov and Lelchitsy. Administrative cents, that is the closest settlement is the agrotown of Lyaskovichi.

The area was declared protected in 1969. But the idea is sent on the beginning of the XX century. In 1920-30-ies of the Polish Academy of best man proposed to create a wetland Park at the Stviga and Horyn. It was one of the largest sizes Olmansky array. Somewhat later Bolotova Kulcinski (Poland) a study was conducted swampy areas in the West Polesie. In the 39th year he published a work, which is the result of research – the book "Peatlands of Polesie". Then it created a scientific base, in order to create a reserve.

Only by the end of 1957, academician Smolski, Director of the Central Botanical garden of the Byelorussian SSR instructed his employee and bolotovu the Smolyak carry out the necessary studies for the establishment of a new reserve. The justification for it was found until 1961.

Eight years later, more than 600 square kilometers was reorganized under the Pripyatskiy state. Closer to our time, in ' 94, the Park was transferred to the presidential Commission, RB, and a year later organized a hunting enterprise "Lyaskovichi". A year later, the reserve became a national Park. Now the purpose of the Foundation was the preservation of the landscape, unique in its nature, its detailed study. Already with ' 98 works here natural Museum.

More than thirty hectares of parkland (approximately 35%) are protected areas. This means that there is strictly prohibited economic manipulation. There is the Pripyat river, the largest tributary of the Dnieper. The property has a network of rivers, which has a length of approximately two hundred and eighty kilometers.

In the XIX century the territory of present-Pripyat national Park was very swampy. At sunset of the century it was decided to carry out reclamation at three hundred kilometers wetland area. As a result, it began to appear dense forest. Today the old canals are ineffective, resulting in dried the earth again zavolakivaya.

Themselves, the forests cover about 86% of the Park, half of which is pine. But there are also hornbeam and oak forests, where there are lime trees, oaks, ash, hornbeam and maple.

In the reserve grows to approximately 940 species of plants, among which are thirty-eight protected. Of relict species are: mountain Arnica, horsetail and Baranets ordinary.
Variety and fauna. In the official register recorded about 50 species of mammals, there are seven species of reptiles, and about a hundred fish and more than a dozen amphibians. Some of the species in Belarus is not present at all.
