Motorcyclists have taken over the sidewalk in Bangkok's Lad Prao district

in travel •  6 years ago

The traffic station JS 100, which is well-known in Bangkok, shows a sidewalk on its website on the main street in Lad Prao, where instead of the usual pedestrians almost only motorcycle riders can be seen. JS 100 reports that this situation is now the hard truth and commonplace.

The motorcyclists simply use the sidewalk and have their own "lane" opened there, otherwise they are on the road together with the cars only in a traffic jam. So while one side of the sidewalk is used by the motorcycles, the other side of the sidewalk is blocked by street vendors and their food. The pedestrians must therefore see for themselves how they can even move on the sidewalk.

The Bangkoker citizens have since given up complaining that motorcyclists and street vendors have taken over the walkway so easily. The motorcyclists use the sidewalk without shame or fear of being caught by the police.

Normally, people in the area know exactly when the police are coming at what times, and try to bring the situation under control. The brazen motorcyclists can therefore plan accordingly, whether they can drive on the sidewalk or better not.

On the 21st of this month, the JS 100 has shared a picture that shows the reality and how bad the problem has become for the locals of Lad Prao.

The pedestrian walkway directly on the street Lad Prao 101 was completely blocked with three or sometimes even four rows of motorcycles. The motorcyclists use the pedestrian path quite simply and of course as if it were another lane on the road. There was no room left for someone who actually had to use the sidewalk as usual to walk.

A famous and well-known Facebook page in Thailand, "@ejeab", shared the picture and wrote in the post: "Every time the motorcycles get a backlash, they disappear for a while ... but then they come back very quickly , Fines obviously do not mean anything to them ".

"I told you to catch them will not solve anything, the police in Bangkok can not solve the problem," writes another Internet user in his comment.

"You can put big signs all over Bangkok that say," DO NOT drive your motorcycle on the pedestrian path and DO NOT drive in the wrong direction ", but it will not help writes another user and cusses quite clearly.

Another user is more reserved and writes: "At least let those who clearly violate the law know how we think about them."

Meanwhile, the contribution of JS 100 has received more than 33,500 stickers and more than 1,700 comments. The post has already been shared more than 730 times.
