Chile was once a destination that was only visited by hikers and backpackers. Now, travelers from all four corners of the globe have realized just how much this amazing country has to offer. One of the main reasons to visit is to explore the diverse landscape of this small country. Despite being only a small slither of a country, it has something different to offer in each corner. They are ideal for both those who want a relaxing sun-soaked vacation and those who prefer a livelier holiday trying out watersports. To the east is the Andes mountain range. This is a fantastic setting for climbing, exploring, learning about the culture of those living in mountain villages, and enjoying spectacular views across the country. To the north of Chile is the Patagonia desert and to the south lies the wilds of Patagonia. If you prefer the urban vibe, then the city’s capital, Santiago, has become increasingly trendy in recent years. It is also a wonderful place to try the delights of traditional Chilean food. Another reason to visit during 2018 is that Chile is celebrating 200 years of independence, so there will be events, festivals, and celebrations taking place throughout the year in a variety of locations.
