Getting Dinner with the Family at Tasca El Pescador in La Placita, San Juan, Puerto Rico

in travel •  7 years ago

We had a bunch of fun last night (Sunday, March 25th) walking to dinner at the Farmer's Market area of La Placita in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Before I get to the video, here are some pictures of our walk to the same area during the day on Saturday:

Here's a video of our dinner in that same area last night.

Video background music from Bensound with Creative Commons license.

The kids do get a bit grumpy when they are tired and hungry, especially after a full day at the beach. We continue to use every moment to teach them as best we can and even though Devon was a bit difficult last night, we continued our conversation this morning, and he apologized for how he was acting. It's easy to see pictures and videos of people's vacations and think it's all just unicorns and rainbows, but we deal with challenges as well, for sure.

It's sad to think we're heading back home tomorrow after such a great time here. I hope we can come back soon.

This is genuinely good parenting! I wish all parents act like you do with your kids. Raising kids seems to be a great but challenging joy. Amazing moments captured in pictures and the video. I wonder how awesome it will be for the kids to open this link years from now on.

Wishing happiness and health to your family!

Thanks so much. I love being able to put these memories on the blockchain. I hope services like the image host being used and YouTube will be around in the future as well.

Image hosting and YouTube need to be around. Yes. I lost my Facebook account forever and with that my pages and groups too. Counting on these centralized services is a risky step. Good luck though. I hope the memories stick for as long as possible.

Real life unschooled education for your kids in cultural diversity.
I was writing about violence in kids education and I remembered you. :)
Cheers .

This is indeed the better way towards shaping a peaceful future. Peaceful, philosophical parenting and education is the key to reshaping society.

I am glad you got to have some good times with your family!!
It's so great that your kids get to travel the world at such a young age!
Safe travels @lukestokes

Thank you. We're very fortunate and so very thankful we can expose them to different cultures.

I love your little girl !! She is really very very cute <3.

And these wall art are amazing.

Are these potatoes in that picture ? Those are some really big potatoes. I haven't seen such big potatoes in my life in my country.

Seems like you had a really good time. That guy playing guitar at EL SABRoSO sounds spanish awesome :P

Nice post. Keep posting such enjoyable reads and keep chilling out with your family. We love to see you have fun :D

I'm not entirely sure what they were, but far too big for potatoes. Maybe something like a yucca root?

And yeah, I have that spanish song stuck in my head. If the kids didn't need to get home to bed, I would have wanted to stay and listen for sure.

Hehe. You seem to be a music fan !!
Thanks for the reply.

they look like sweet potatoes. "Batatas"

Spending time with your family, that is what brings genuine happiness.
It seems.like you had a great time.
Have fun

Awwwn, adorable.

We are at a restrurant and there's loud music.

The kid just to eat and get it over with😁.

La Placita really seems like a beautiful place by the way; and who's that dude in the back photobombing your selfie?😁

I laughed so much when I saw that. He triumphantly declared photo bomb victory afterwards as well. My 6-yo Aria had my phone and was taking pictures and did that part of the video. She asked me to make that face. :)

The saddest thing about vacation is always the ending and that it passes so fast. However any vacation is for me time to relax and when it’s over I can’t wait for the next one in a next year. That’s what we have, once a year. You have a wonderful family though. The place looks beautiful, all these people outside. It looks very peaceful and friendly environment. I’m not sure if there are on one of the picture, but these are unusually gigantic, if that’s in fact a potato. Just perfect for vacation. BTW: you did an amazing job on your vacation video, I love when you used this background music .

Thank you! I've been playing around with iMovie lately on my phone and adding background music really adds value to the whole memory, I think. I found editing on my phone is almost easier than on my computer and I can export the whole iMovie file to my computer to add details like the background music.

Excillent family photography dear @lukestokes

It looks so nice over there! Was the food good :)?

PS. Have a great flight back home!

I really have come so far to admire you so much @lukestokes. You are nothing short of your description of you as a father etc.

You have an amazing family and seeing that young man with the cap just like you tells that you are raising a better version of you. Your daughter's cute smile is priceless and I just love your family and all that you do.

Thanks for sharing your vacation experience.

Hoping to read more from you@lukestokes

Thank you!

Luke always found of his family, a very responsible man. He told me via chat that he wouldn't want to stay away from his family for a long time. I wish to model my family after yours when I settle down.

A fun trip with family on weekends, always my brother's success @lukestokes

When with family, that's the most beautiful period.

Looks like you had some great vacation with your folks. Yes, kids can be a handful when they are tired and hungry, and sometimes even a bit overly demand. Enjoy yourself and have a great time!!

The street graffiti on the 4th image look exceptionally interesting. You all look very happy. Vacation was definitely a success. I hope you will have a safe trip home.

I can assume your family is accustomed to traveling, yes? I would be out of my mind with my babies, but they will definitely enjoy new things and places. That vegetable stand, vegetables are huge.

Yeah, we bring them on road trips quite often and they do love staying in new places and seeing new things.

Adorable.......spending good times with ur family brings joy, happiness, success.....wow happy family

Thanks for share experience front us

Oh wow what a cute babyyyy, you are lucky to have doll like princess baby girl.

Well that is some seriously badass street art.

Puerto Rico seems like a really cool place to be.

It's amazing. Though we're leaving tomorrow morning, I already want to come back.

Thanks @lukestokes. Some really beautiful street art in that area you're in. Is this where you live permanently ??

Not currently, no. I’m certainly considering it though. :)

I always appreciate a good family time. Looks like you have a very nice family. I would really wish to visit Puerto Rico. Hope that we will be able to visit it this yer as we are going to South America - just need to include some of Central america countries and some Caribbean countries. Best of luck returning home. ;)

Too cute! You can add this trip to your "awesome memory bank!!!"

On a side note, how are things overall in Puerto Rico? Looks like in the bigger cities things are ok, but as you go out you can see more of the devastation from last years hurricane.

Thanks for sharing those photos. What challenges did you have?
Your son remembers me my own son, when he is tired or hungry.

Thanks, Luke for sharing this. I love the artwork on the walls! You have a wonderful gentle attitude about your children. They grow to be mature, insightful and self-aware if we just give them the chance.

That tree is so cool. I would be climbing all over that bad boy.

Look like you guys have a great family time in San Juan Luke. Kids look happy there! They are always so direct to express their feelings but that's why they are so cute and pure. Have a great day and back home safe:)

Thanks so much. We got back last night and it's odd being "home." I was already starting to think of PR as home. :)

Yeah, they definitely express their raw emotions. It can be really frustrating at times, but it's all part of their growth to teach them how to properly handle things in healthy ways so they, themselves, prefer the outcome over what happens otherwise.

Hey @luckestokes when this government comunist comes to an end, you should come to Venezuela. I did not know that you liked the Caribbean here we can organize an excellent day in the paradisiacal islands of my city.
